Are the factory ones heat treated black or painted? Is the hole in yours a different size or is it just a illusion?

The factory ones are painted black.
Yes, the holes are slightly smaller in mine.They are 8.1mm in diameter,which should still be plenty of clearance for a factory 7/32 cap screw.
The difference is about .5 mm.It does look like more,an illusion I imagine created by the difference in colour.

Package of flare washers arrived the other day thanks very much Craig , excellent quality ! .......will make a nice finishing touch to the L34 when it goes back on the road

I'll give these another bump as Im only 10 minutes from eastern creek and the muscle car masters is next weekend.

I am just about to give mine another coat of black. For those interested, they are silver zinc plated. My bolts have a bit of rust inside the hex head, but I will clean them up as best I can and use them again as the heads on all of the modern bolts that I have seen are quite a bit larger than the factory ones.

The picture with the 3 bolts has the original on the left. The middle one has the same size head but has no knurling, and the one on the right has a larger head.
