More importantly, did they ever make an actual prototype of the facelift? Are there pictures floating about?

to full sized clay.
I was trying to get a pic of it from Chris Norman at Fineprint Productions,
who handle all the archived GMH photos, but he isnt even acknowledging
my emails. Ruuuude!
If I find one else where I'll post it.
Apparently it was much like the old Rover 3500? big 4 door with hatch.

I remember hearing about the UD, in 81 or 82. I recall (and remember this was about 25 years ago, so things are a little bit hazy) that it was nose and tail-light only restyle of the UC (different tail lights incorporating clear reversing lamps in an assembly that directly replaced the UC tail-light assembly) and a nose that had some family resemblance to the Commodore. I heard that the nose styling was based on the Opel model that was a size smaller than the model that became the Commodore body parts donor.

And yes, the UD tail lights looked a lot better

You can't help thinking that the UC and WB were signs of things to come with the smoother front lines, getting away from the "blunt" earlier Toranas and HZ's.
I would like to see these pics too!
Interesting too that the UD/UF originally might have had a "V" prefix like the Commodores?
A bit off topic but how many GTR-X's (or a least use the lines) would the General sell now as their new Torana? (see link at start of thread) if it had a "newer" driveline e.g. Commodore alloy V6 downrated in size? I don't think the body is that much dated? Again my opinion.

These are awesome pics Buckle!!!! Thanks for finding them.

Where are they from mate?

Now those tail lights are really nice!!!
Cheers, Leakey

I agree they did improve on the back lights, but the car seemed to have lost its Tuffness from the LX. It looks more like a larger Gemini...
But still i wish they still made torries :(
