I agree with the gemini comments.
And i think that 5 door hatch looks ugly

Are the wheels similar to stock gemini wheels?

Nice pics. SLE wheels in the top pics. Available Sunbird SLE and Early Commodore SLE. Not sure about Gemini but rings a bell.

Geminis got the SLE wheels in a 14x6 with the TG Z/ZZ model. Or was that the ZZ/Z, I can never remember. The only reason I remember that is because one of my sisters in law bought one new back around 1983.

And would I be correct if I said Sunbird SL/E were 13"?
And Commodore SL/E 15"?
And maybe WB Statesman too?
So 4 different sizes and stud patterns?

HZ had 14" SLE alloys. WB sandman vans had 14" SLE alloys as well. WB Statesman had 14" rims for the De Ville and 15" for the Caprice. And yes, the Common Whore SLE is 15" and the Sunbudgie 13".

If they'd stuck with it, we could have seen something like this I suppose?

Even a plain jane can be jazzed up with war paint & wheels.

Growing on me....

Any other takes on this? Maybe I'll post this in the Photoshop thread too.
[MODS - can you keep it here as it is relevant to this thread]

I ownd a HZ Prem SLE with 14" SLE rims. Iv also owned a gemini with SLE rims but i think they were 13" CHOPPER. The 14" SLE gemini rims were same design as the VH SLE commodores not the VB style rims like in those pics. Oh and WB Caprice had a completly diferent style rim to them again in 15"

Shit, it's been so long since I've seen those rims and they all look the bloody same! There could've been 13" Gemini SLE rims as well. The 15" WB Caprice rims, they had the allen key type nuts, didn't they?

Cant say I ever noticed 14in sle rims on a Gemini, but they did come with 13in sle rims with the easily noticeable feature of four studs.

The 5 door mock up looks like it was built up on an LX platform.....judging by the tail lights.
The UD version..........tailights look better, but those large mouldings on the front and rear quarters..........looks like a Toyota!

Thanks for posting those pics Leakey. I told my wife those old magazines taking up space would come in handy! I've actually got two more you might like to post that I'll send through to you. One is a GMH stylist's impression of a UF coupe (complete with extra high profile tyres) and the other is a cutaway of the VA five door hatch. The VA was originally intended to be the holden for the 80s but it became obvious that it would be too expensive to develop for the anticipated sales. That's why we adopted the commodore.

Cheers

Thanks Buckle, here's the other two pics mate.

The UF coupe has heavy overtones of the Renault Alpina I think.

In the VA cut away, notice how the drawn passengers are wearing flares!!!! LOL
On a more serious note, notice it has a V8.....

[I did a yellow version too of the UD 5 door in SS trim. Looks neat!
I will email it to you. JFTR took about 30 mins.]

i reckon that these are pretty good even if my dad reckons the UD sedan looks like a cortina mixed with a gemini and the five door looks like a corolla!!.Not so sure about the UF coupe though,Reckon the back should've been longer just my opinion,BTW does anyone have any other old prototype-that-never-made it pics cause looking at those i am suddenly intrigued.

Pics are from a magazine Buckle has.

Photoshop is from me.

:D :D

Funny, I did some searching on other forums, and so called experts
on the subject of UD + and they say no pics were ever released
of any car after UC.

I also posted the 5 door photoshop in the photoshop thread to see if other people
could do some skitchin' and see what direction they think the car might have gone.
The one I did certainly looks Cortina-ish, but all I did was colour it, make the grille
dark grey, front spoiler and black outs. Interesting eh?

I thought there would be more interest in this thread, seeing just about everyone
on the site is always saying wish they'd never stopped making them?!!!

Amazing what old magazines can savour!

Nice photochopping Leaky. I still trying to work out how you did what you did but will ponder a bit more and ask in the photoshop thread if I cant work it out.

I wonder what the UD Limited would be have been called UD/L perhaps. Super charged version would have been the SC/UD.
