The Opel gearbox was OK and it was only the way you treated it.
It would not take going back in gears and using the engine as a break 'cause that would break the box.
AND dropping the clutch was not all that good for it.
My mate who had an LC GTR and then the LJ GTR had a way of toughening them up.
I had 4 years of good fun in the LC GTR but after now having my SS for 2 years, won't go back to an LC/LJ.
Maybe I'm gettting too old but I appreciate the extra comfort and ride of the SS against the Ferguson Tractor ride of the LC GTR

Then there is the added grunt and note of the V8 (

Hi John
If we are talking about the shield on the top of the calipers that cover the pads and pins - XU1s weren't fitted with them. No backing plates either.

gmh and harry where a very smart team, this also would be the reason gmh kept the m21 when thay went into race in the 5000 and l34 and i think most race a9x also carried the m21, thay just streched the cogs and made them bigger and stronger to surpport the 308.
now i would like you input into this ^^^ has it would be great to nut this out.

My gtr had them fitted, and also the xu1,maybe it was fitted to cars, who's owners lived in the bush, and city cars weren't fitted.

Hi Bazza,

Hi Frash
The LC and LJ parts catalogues reflect the situation that the 'SHIELD - Brake Caliper Splash" P/N 74838754 was not fitted to XU-1s. Whatever individual owners did after delivery does not change this. Perhaps people 'replaced' them because they thought that they were 'missing' when in actual fact they weren't there in the first place.
I will post a scans if requested.
I presume that these shields (as well as the backing plates) were deleted to improve brake efficiency by maximising the full effect of the air dam.
Cheers

and the M21 had the taller gears.
AND the A9X gurus can elaborate on the T10 and disc brake Salisbury 10 bolt diff.
