I sent a message to this prick letting him know that what he was doing was illegal and got no reply. So I sent one to ebay with the item numbers included and got no response whatsoever. What now? Call Crimestoppers? They wouldn't even put down their cup of coffee.

Unfortunately miss.munro has covered up the numbers, indicating the numbers will definitely be used in a rebirth.

Hi

No matter, a freshly painted 10/70 Silver Mist Metallic LC GTR with Sandalwood/Houndstooth trim and a Melbourne ADR tag and no VIN shouldn't be too hard to spot when it surfaces.

Cheers

So what happens if a set of  tags are on the statutory writ-off list?

Does the statutory writ-off list go back that far?

any attempt to re-register with statutory writ-off tags may end up with a suprise and a please explain!

No one is going to pay that sort of money for a display only.

No one selling those tags would expect that sort of money for a display only.

the intended use of tags at that price is suspect.

All statutory writ-off vehicles should have their tags removed and forwarded to the authorities by insurance co's

it may not stop past practices but would help future ones.

I think the write off register only has cars on it that were written off after it was implemented so these old cars are never going to be on it. But in future the tags off a write off will be useless as if someone did take the tags off and try and put them on another car it would never get registered as they would be on the list. Not sure about the other states but in NSW now once its on the list it can never be registered, where previously the list was just to let people know the car had been written off.

there was a set of LC GTR tags on gumtree yesterday for $4000 with the added description  - "turn your car into a GTR and add $10,000 value to it."

Unfortunately there was no photos or numbers and I can't seem to find the ad today.

Maybe the cops should bait a few people to get calls from those who are willing to part with the cash to illegally upgrade their car and keep tabs on them.

A lot of the problem of these tags "might" arise from the days when some of these cars were pranged/and or stolen.

In the case of the pranged ones i believe it was the duty of the recycle mob ,(called wreckers in those days) to remove the tags when  the thing

was stripped for parts and the body was dumped?..not sure if they were to be handed in though?

A lot of water has passed under bridge in that time and who knows who has what?..until they turn up some years later.

The stolen pretty well speaks for it's self.

Surely you would think that most,if not all of those records are on file somewhere, the car would have been originally registered with some numbers that

can be traced to GMH,Ford,Chrysler or whoever ?....

Doesn't really affect me that much, but for the ones that have the real thing and are getting affected it is a different story.

Would i get in trouble if i was to advertise tags for a genuine UC 4 door L34a9xSLR5000 hatcback,,probably not.

I believe wreckers nowdays have to destroy the tags of writeoffs

But not sure how diligent they are with such things

Don't put up ebay links people.. .they expire... you need images and info

Send the details to me if you don't/can't post them yourself

Another dodgy tag/chassis number on ebay

http://www.ebay.com....=item3cf4484591

ALJ14409A

Dodgy tags seem to be turning up all the time, a pity ebay and the police don't give a damn.

Surely its illegal to be selling car ID plates etc.

All they need to do is nab a couple of these scumbags, advertise the fact widely and and have ebay, gumtree etc block all tag ads.

Contact ebay, let them know you've just won a prohibited item.

Let them squirm their way out of it and cancel the transaction.

Contact the cops too.

Some L32 SS tags on Ebay for starting price 2K.

http://www.ebay.com....=item25a950ee05

I find it funny he covers up the VIN numbers because thats what you have to do but then has a full picture of the body tag which contains the body number which of course makes up the VIN

VIN 8D77RG J545670M
