Actually,
they do say on their home page that they need a copy of your licence papers to stamp them. And when you go through some of the other makes that they do, it appears they use the same font stamp for all of them which would look out of place on a Holden plate.
There would be over a thousand words in their terms and conditions, but the legality of these things is not even mentioned.

Ha, that Holden PSN plate isn't identical to an original LC or LJ. The corners have too much radius to start with.

and my VIN tag is so battered from engine parts etc,
a new one would look wrong.
By the way, the Ebay Tag Ad is searchable now,
just type in - LC ID

Like I said a while ago, Rare Spares should do the tags as a replacement tag if your original tag is lost or destroyed but with RS in corner etc. By the look of this someone has started it up.

Just discovered this:-
That plate is an obvious repro, plus if they don't have access to tens of 1000's of samples they'll never get the text in the right spot with the same wear consistent with other tags around them. Unless they have the original as a sample then it doesn't really matter.

My L34 has the old type as well. A funny shaped pin punch was used to insert them, then the hole filled with a hard tar. They changed to the pop rivets about the end of '74.
It looks to me like the pin on the pop rivets was hollow. Any rivet you buy from the hardware store would be a solid pin, and they snap off deep inside leaving a bigger hole.
Thanks to Datto and Brad for the following.
Rivet change happens into early HJ. Some cars have a combination of small and large rivets depending upon the delay between the body plant and the assembly plant, and also depends upon how the assembly plant operated eg Acacia Ridge put the BODY and VIN tags on in the body plant whereas Pagewood didn't put the ADR tag and VIN plant on until late in the assembly plant process.

Haha, just looking again at the pic of the chassis number, it looks like bog around the number. Been cut out and welded in once already.

Now we just need someone to message him and get the numbers. Just tell him you want to run a check to see if the VIN is consistent with the chassis no.
