Using my x-ray vision, I'm pretty sure that chassis number is ALH014381M ??
It could be ALH014361M but the "6" on compliance plates has a much fatter bottom than an "8"...
Hopefully the VIN will be enough for the search engine anyway.

Just a reminder ....... if you are going to contribute to this thread then you NEED to enter the tag numbers manually.
Photos of tag numbers won't show up in search.

If you sent this info to the police I wonder if they would actually do anything. The above picture I put up would only be possibly used to rebirth a vehicle and just support the stolen vehicle market ??

To start with, I was thinking "Who would want to buy those tags?" But I guess even the replica SL/Rs are making good money now.

Perhaps someone with a stolen SL/R wants to drive it around under a lesser moniker till some SL/R tags become available?

Exactly. The only reason to buy something like this is to rebirth a dodgy car. Its really the only way it could ever be registered. And hopefully the cops are listing all these tag details and warning bells ring when it goes for registration.

The cops would have to take notice, the information is clear. Lots of details . Have to follow up or today tonight will . I can just see it now . Geno in a dark shadow. We cant show you his face, No seriously. This is for rating purposes lol. But its illegal, they don't really have a choice. Get this information on there computers.

I'm not exactly sure it is illegal, these are just manufacturer's build plates, as far as I know there are no laws regarding the removal and/or possession of them?
I'd think this may only possibly become fraud if they were fitted to a lessor vehicle for deception / financial gain? But you can't exactly prove the intent of a buyer who hasn't even bought them yet, they may simply go to a collector looking to stick them up on a wall?
Compliance (or ADR) Plates are a different story, a compliance plate may only be "AFFIXED WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE AUSTRALIAN MOTOR VEHICLE CERTIFICATION BOARD" according to the bottom of any plate.
Swapping build plates is a big problem though, but we're not necessarily talking about stolen cars, just cars being misrepresented, and that's why we type the numbers into these threads with the hope that any prospective buyers will google the details and at least get a heads-up about what they may be buying.

My point is, as far as the law is concerned, you can't prove malicious intent based on the tags simply being for sale so I doubt there's anything the cops can do about it at this stage?

Right you are freak.

Still no chassis number?

If a car is pulled over and has any Tags listed in this thread attached to a vehicle then they should fully investigate the history (chassis number). The owner should have to explain why these ornamental tags are being used. No one is going to pay thousands of dollars to hang tags in there man cave.
