Just a reminder ....... if you are going to contribute to this thread then you NEED to enter the tag numbers manually.
Photos of tag numbers won't show up in search.

Bit of a mixed bag here, a vin 8D69RH J596973X
body tag LX8VC69 598525M
chassis CLX0 57609M
So we have a VIN off a LH SLR 253 but body plate off a LX SL 253 and a typo on the ADR plate with a space in the word holden

It looks like he used one of these. Perhaps it might have fooled a few more people if he made it look as old as the compliance plate.
Pricks are still selling these on ebay and gumtree in plain sight of the cops. A couple of them are probably even reading this. So instead of bending over backwards to book someone on a quiet country road for speeding by a couple of kilometers an hour, how about finding these bastards and giving them what for.

Yel327 how'd you pick the Monaro plates dodginess? What should people look out for?
Look at the BODY number versus the chassis number, don't need to look any further. People who create fake tags more often than not think they are so smart yet they are really so stupid they outsmart themselves!

I wouldn't be surprised if this was an internal GMH car. It isn't one of the press release or press test cars (the bulk of these were 12/75 build but a few were 1/76), but it could well be for another purpose. The PSN's of the press test cars fall either side of this one.

Also the model number is incorrect, should be either 80337 for a base model 6 cyl Monaro or 80837 for a 253/308 GTS

At the end of the day Pete, if you are buying a car, stick photos of the numbers up on the appropriate forum and you will soon find out if they are dodgy.

That is the first hint, but such mistakes by GMH did happen although uncommon. The body number matching the chassis number is the big red flag.

Count the errors! I count 8 on the BODY plate alone let alone whatever discrepancies there are on the generic plate itself (I didn't bother to check if the tag itself is fake or an original). Then there are the inter-plate/chassis# errors. Have a close look.
I don't really care what people do with their own cars if it gives them a stiffy at night or for whatever reason they do it, but when you try to deceive when you sell it that is not fair play. This is so bad it is a joke. If this is the car it says it is, it was as far as I know subjected to deception from when Harry sold it out of HDT, so some of it may well go back to then.
