This is copied off a later 70's tag as it has LIMITED rather than PTY LTD.

And they've got the full stops right on the driveline items.

Methinks the tag maker is actually being smart and putting in things so they know if the tags are theirs or not.

The two that really stand out are the ' in HOLDEN'S and the . after the word BODY

The correct stamps would be pretty rare wouldnt they ?  A set sold a few years back on ebay for something stupid.. $500 or so from memory...

They aren't really stamps as such for this era tag, it was a typewriter like machine as far as I know.

That would be correct for stamping the actual vehicle details on the tag, however I expect the tags with the basic information, as seen on that blank tag on ebay, would have been produced using specially made tooling. Much like minting coins I would expect

Yeah, maybe. GMH probably outsourced them sonewhere. You can see the machine that pressed this tag in question isn't the same as what did the originals, when you look really close the originals are much sharper. It may not actually be a great difference in machine either, it may be in the material properties itself.

'Bear' is the correct spelling - as in 'to carry'. 'Bare' would mean - empty, naked or uncovered.

25 years ago brand new bare tags weren't that hard to come across.

I've seen them in the toolbox of at least two panelbeaters.

Id be shocked if there weren't more.

Just type the numbers in here, pictures are not necessarily relevant.... Links and pictures tend to disappear.
