Here is where we are at.
The brake guy finally came over yesterday.
I said to him straight up ...... when you replace the brake tubing, i will follow you with a bigger drill bit & a Nutsert gun ( thanks Rob ) & bolt the lines in properly.
To which he replied, "I'm not here to replace them, i'm just putting more 'P' clamps on".
I rang his boss & suggested that he actually get off his butt & come look at the work done, which he did. When he arrived, he told me that he had spoken to the rwc inspector, who told him that he had no concern about where the brake lines ran, as long as they were secured properly.
So even though it looks like a dogs breakfast, i have no leg to stand on.
On the plus side, there are now no leaks * the handbrake assembly has been returned to stock & functioning.
I will remove the existing brake lines & re do them myself. I don;t see that i have a choice. Ripped off again!

Is there a body such as the Motor Traders Association up there?
Who licenses mechanics?
Would go to them and make a complaint about sub standard workmanship.
They will look at the job and how much was charged.
They can make the repairer compensate you.
Works that way in NSW anyway.
And they tend to side with the consumer.

It would have been cheaper for you to fly me up for a weekend with my gear and do it
Even with the food bill and drinking expenses

Inner door belt rubbers finally arrived after 4 weeks. Somehow i ended up with 3 sets of outers & no inners.
Fitted them up today along with the window trim.
Part #'s:

Outer: Front LHS RDB1061A
RHS RDB1061B
Inner Rear LHS/RHS RDB1062 ( i think one of these should be different)

Great Man Mort,
Col was saying his brakes were done,
and they certainly look much better thank's.
Can see the clips, and the nicely directed brake lines.

Hi Al. It is a PWR item.
I can find the invoice tomorrow but i think it was $1600-1700,
Yes, that's stupidly dear compared to Ebay stuff, even expensive when compared to the fantastic deals offered by magazine advertisers, but i have read thru the forums over the years, looked at the complaints online, & really just wanted an item that would,
A: Fit without having to modify it.
B: Do the job it is supposed to do. ( i still don't know if it works )
C: Satisfy my highly critical standards of welding. (I'm old & broken, it's my vice, Ok? lol)
I guess the same reason i bought the Brown Davis drop tank.
Oh crap! I just crunched the numbers on those 2 chunks of alloy. FFS don't tell the mrs!
