Been having a little win.

After waiting months for the sparky to show up, i was given the name of another one. Gave him a call ...... he quoted ...... & Purple is now wired! :) Thank you ODan Randall. :)

It still hasn't run, but it winds over. Been fixing fuel system leaks. Ended up removing the 'barb > hose' fitting on the fuel rail inlet & having a 'weld on adaptor' fitted. ( I still hate paying ppl for welding ) I have excessive fuel pressure. Seems the -8 hose going to -6 fuel reg fittings isn't a good thing.

I need to change out the fuel regs & fit the Holley one. The factory reg on the fuel rail has to go too. So another 'weld on' fitting needed & some more hose  fittings.

Managed to partially fit most of the interior.

I am happy with the way it is looking. Still not clean.

Finally i can see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel! :)

This may have been mentioned earlier so I'll apologise in advance for not trawling back through the thread but...

What's with the tags Col, are they the factory tags just painted? They look cool!

Would be easy enough to paint factory ones like that, but there prolly the laser engraved ones he mentioned earlyer.

cheers.

DOH, just went back one page and found that I'd already asked the same question!

~ Engraved ID tags ordered too. (National Engravers)

ALL of the mod plate guys i have spoken with refuse to put the mod plate in the boot. "Oh it has to go as close to the original tags as possible!"

So i am going to put the engraved tags in the engine bay & mount the stock tags in the boot. ~

No matter where i put that Holley reg it just didn't look good. I know looks over function is stupid, but the 'kit supplied' reg must be ok?

Out with the Holley & back on with the rising rate reg. Hey .... i made a custom 316 bracket for it! lol

Had the d/s fuel rail cut down about 1" & a -8 fitting welded on. Finger tightened the fitting on to it, went to tighten it & it went to butter! Hmmmmm .......

Had to cut the fitting off, reassess the plumbing & weld on another -6 fitting. Put in a 45deg M>F & it all plumbed up nicely.

Checked (again) for leaks, found none so ................

14 years in the build & she finally runs. :)

Still much to do but it is finally a step in the right direction.

10 yrs since the engine has ran Gene. Been wound over by hand every week since,  I primed the oil pump & wound it over on the starter until it finally had oil pressure to the top.  Then cranked the starter until it fired.

Yes it sounds 'dry'. & so it should. 10 years since fire up!

Still sounds better than anything you have posted since you joined the forums. JUst saying!

Need to sort out the fuel pressures still. I think the gauge is fried. It 'hunts' for idle until it is warm. I don't want to wind up the fuel pressure until i know what it is.
