What a novel way of avoiding cast iron welding ha ha ha.

Did I ask how are you going about fuel system pump type location etc?

Thanks Lee (nial8r) & Shane (gtrboyy) for all your help trying to sort out my wheels & clearence problems on my Torana. It seems Shane's suggestion of VB-VL front rotors & HQ-HZ calipers is the best so far, Lee agrees & after much consideration i do to. I have a pair of HQ calipers but after sitting around for years the piston bores are too corroded so i'll have to hunt down another pair. I'm still trying to make it to Summernats though unfortunately it'll be going with chaser rims on it. I sprayed them 2K silver & they look OK but in my eyes they scream P plater VL if you know what i mean & don't do my car justice. Oh well such is life. I did get the wheel alignment done yesterday & apart from moving a few shims around it was all pretty much spot on. Interior is nearly done, need to fit one door trim once i find some plastic washers to go behind the handles, make some kickpanels & fit the front speakers. Once i top up the diff oil all is looking good for a decent test drive.

Interior is very neat & tasteful. Steering wheel sets it off :)

The Chasers look fine! Honestly if you had the rear ones widened a bit and fitted with fatter rubber, I think they'd look pretty tough, I just don't think they go with the chrome well

I think the chasers would look better with some chrome dress rims, less p-plate'ish that way lol.

A brake place willl probably just tell you to find another set than resleeve a cheapish common type of caliper.I still have to find another set to finish mine off also.

Put those simmons on the back at the nats & fry the crap out of em!!!

Thanks for all the comments fellas. The car has clocked up 200 kms this evening, drove to Richmond to put it on a hoist & go over everything. All suspension bolts were loose, tightened them, all afternoon the car has had a missfire, ripped the plugs out checked the injectors etc, put it down to the heater hose pushing down on the dizzy cap. Hopefully it goes OK. Drove OK back from Richmond, a bit sluggish. Chasers are staying on for now, looking to get custom rims once my finances recover from Summernats. Oh yeah they are 15x6 front & 15x7 rear with 215/60/15 tyres. Crossing my fingers the car has no more problems but i'm going down with a group of people so it should be OK.

Hmmm...I've already fried the chaser's pulled into a servo on Northern road & had a group of young guys gee me up so i couldn't help myself even with the slight miss in the engine it still went broadside back out onto Northern road & fishtailed into second. They loved it

good to see your starting to enjoy your new toy Matt Posted Image i have to admite though i have the same problem sometimes when young punks gee me up the VX SS Posted Image the only bad thing is i seem to kill the 235's every time but i know if i chucked the chasers on for a skid session the law would be onto me before i knew it Posted Image also its good to see that you havent let the couple of teething problems get you down Posted Image

Well i'm back from Summernats with my car in one piece. Didn't have too many problems with the car, heater hoses pushing down on the dizzy cap caused an annoying miss fire which went away after i removed the fuel rail covers, a slipping fan belt caused the alternator to under charge the battery so i ended up having to borrow another battery to get home, but other than that the car ran faultless. I didn't take as many pics as i would've liked, well the missus had the camera so see took all the happy snaps. Had a chance to go in the supercruise but declined as the security in their own words "didn't care" that drunk f*ckwits were trying to open the car doors & harass my female passengers & were damaging my car because i wouldn't turn tyres for them, so i parked it until i went home. On a possitive note, i met Ben (TUFF75LH355) briefly, great bloke wish i could've chatted more but he unfortunately came over just after my run in with security so i was a bit frazzeled. Thanks for bringing the part i needed all the way from Sydney & into Natex then hunting me down to give it to me. Any how here are a few pics from Summernats.

Oh yeah, thanks for the glowing reference Lee (nial8r) Posted Image right back at you mate, you've been a big help with this car, your old tail lights are still bolted in. Heath, the car is fully registered with the plates you see in the pics & fully insured with Shannons. Will need to get an engineer's report for the diff & brakes to make it 100% legal but as you see the car now it passed a roadside police inspection.

Hi Neil.

Thanks mate, yeah overall i had a great time at Summernats. For me it's all about hanging out with good friends & tough cars & checking out other people's cool cars. Your VR looks like mine did when i first bought it, well it looks alot better than mine did actually. My VR had the red moulds down the sides & on the front bumper too but most were damaged & NLA from Holden so when i resprayed it i left them off. It's a great car, though due to the work i've done to the engine it has a habit of destroying auto gearboxes. The wife loved having it as "her" car for Summernats & had at least 6 to 8 people in the back when ever she cruised it. She aimed to fit 15 in there but i think the most she got was 10.

Cheers Matt

Hey. Glad you had a good time at the Nats. Your torrie came out really well. Nice work.

VR ute at summernats? I remember when you used to have to have a modified car to get into summernats? I guess mags is enough these days.

What? Me jealous? Yeah, maybe : )
