it was good to see you made it matt.security was crap as usual, but i just try to ignore them Posted Image

Likewise Gary, the VN SS looked great, very well built car & a credit to you. Looked great side by side with Mick's SS on the oval for supercruise Posted Image . Yeah security was crap alright, kinda put a downer on my saturday but hopefully next year will be better.

That would be cool, i'm looking to bring my 355 injected LH SLR down next year along with the Orchid Torana so it may be three Toranas side by side.

All she needs is some fine tuning, some body work, paint & trim. I've got just shy of a year to get it done so i think all going well she'll be there.

I reckon you should get rid of the primer patches and leave the rest of the body how it is!

Probably on a one man crusade here but I reckon that ratty look is awesome on your car :P

I don't mind it's appearence now, however 80% of the paintwork is the original factory finish & as such has deteriorated badly causing surface rust to start appearing in places such as the roof turret & bootlid. It deserves better than that so it'll be getting an in & out bare metal respray in it's original war paint Posted Image

Gary and I were wondering how you ended up! (was at Gary and Renees on saturday night and got talking toranas)

Sounds like she ran well though, excellent effort for such a short build mate.

I was hoping summernats might have picked itself up this year and was contemplating going with Karlie, Gary and Renee if it had, but from what you've posted about it, I think I'll tell her we are staying home.

From the feedback we've been getting back from the organisers after Belinda & myself voiced our concerns (along with a few other people) they are supposedly looking to change certain things for Summernats 24. Belinda is talking about going for a drive up the central coast soon to see Gary & Renee & possibly taking the Torana. Will keep you posted.

Hi Lee.

Back at work now so the Torana's been having a rest. I'm looking for another LH banjo diff housing to build up a new diff with the correct Torana track width, then i'm looking at fitting some new wheels. I'm thinking of a set of Welds or similar to what i've got on the silver SLR. I drove the Torana into work on monday & it got a little hot in traffic on the way home, i think it needs a fan shroud to help keep it cool at low speeds. The rubber steering coupling has play in it so it's like play school driving on the freeway so i'm going to try & fix that before i take it on another long drive, but i love driving the car so hopefully all these little probs will be fixed soon. How's your project coming along, i check the forum from time to time but i haven't seen any updates yet.

Yeah those rubber steering bushes are pretty bad with V8s because of the pipe temp

no updates as yet Matt Posted Image as i have done a couple of love jobs as well as got lumbered with a heap of work at my daughters pre-school 2 weeks before they are due to go back so i have not been getting in till 9:30ish most nights which has put me behind on the the last stage of the build on the entertaining area im building, i have all the timbers painted up ready to close the 2 ends in then just have to make up 2 arched gates, get a quote on and outdoor kitchen bench and im calling it quits for a while on the house reno's cause its killing me walking past the Torana almost every day and not being able to do so much as pick up a hammer to do some tin tapping on it Posted Image anyways about the banjo diff im not sure what mine is but your more than welcome to it but i dont know if it will be any good to you as im not real sure if the diff shop will use the original trailing arm mounts of it to put on the LSD when i get it shortened to suit the LX ??? i know they will need it to match and the LSD both at the same time to make sure they get everything in the right place so i can just bolt it straight in.. but likie i said its yours if you like.. its a bit of a bummer that your LH is getting warm in traffic but by the sounds of it its only a minor problem for now and theres nothing worse than a sh*t load of play in the steering while driving and wondered about the extractors being so close ( like heath was saying ) and cooking the rubber steering coupling something i will find out for my self down the track i guess lol. in my project thread there are some pic's of the tunnel mod i did but was 100% happy with it so i unpicked redo it ( LX UNDER CONSTUCTION )
will catch up soon for a chat Posted Image

I haven't done much with this car for awhile, i replaced the faded tail lights with some NOS GM ones, changed the wheels & tyres, i've been driving it as often as i can including taking it to two shows. Naturally i didn't win anything but it's a good reason to take the car & the family out & that's what i enjoy most Posted Image . I have some plans for the car that involve the engine & trans coming back out & possibly a new engine around about august but nothing is certain yet. Anyhow, i thought i'd post some pics of the car as it is now with the different wheels as in my opinion anyway, it looks heaps better than it did with the Commie stockies on it.

ive always said a set of mags make a car look 110% better and the Weld wheels ( off your SLR im guessing ) look right at home on the new LH, also i didnt think the tail lights i gave ya were faded Posted Image also have you sorted out the cooling problem with the new LH ???

You're half right, the front wheels are off the SLR, the rear are new. I wanted to experiment with offsets before buying new front rims. The lights you gave me weren't excessively faded, that is until i washed them out & washed off half the red dye on the lenses Posted Image . Oh well. I asked the boss at the new shop i'm working at about getting the bumpers you gave me repaired & rechromed, hopefully it won't cost a mint, i have to pay the rego on the car next week. The bumpers on the car are OK but the chrome is showing it's age. When i drove the car to get a pink slip yesterday it seemed to behave itself, didn't go over 180f even sitting in traffic, but i'm still looking at fitting AU Falcon thermos as soon as i can get out to the wreckers to hunt down a set.

when you get ya bars done can ypou let me know what they cost you please as i have the 2 rubberless ones here that i would like to get redone and could you also ask what they think about getting all the hole filled on the bars so they are all smooth and the bars iron will be welded to the inside of the bar it self ? good to see that your car didnt start to overheat, maybe its cause the days a getting alot cooler who knows hey. i wil have to keep my ears & eyes open for a set of fans for you down this way Posted Image

Will do, i don't think having the irons welded to the bars will pose a problem, i think the straighter the bars are the cheaper it will be in the end though. The boss told me to bring them in & to be prepared to pay as there aren't that many places that reco chrome bars anymore. The shop i'm working in is a resto shop, i'm working on an XW GT replica at the moment, so i take the bosses word that this bumper place does good work. I'll keep ya posted
