I was just looking to see if I had a build thread on here, and i don't think i have actually made a proper one before (Must have been on the old forums when they went down).
I've been on these forums now for several years, so seeing some of these pics might bring back some memories!
Now, remember old 253ToranaSS? Well that was me haha! And I use to have that website www.operationtorana.tk Don't bother going to look for it though, it is looooooong gone hahaha!
It'll take me a while to post up all the pics and stuff of my car, but ill start slowly and just keep adding to the story as time goes by!
This was the first ever picture i saw of my car!
I was 16 at the time, and I had been pestering Dad about buying a Torana! I got the trading post every Thursday and looked for Hatchback Torana's! I didnt have much to spend, so when this one popped up for $900, i was WRAPPED!!! Dad checked it out for me after work one night, and discretely took photos of it for me to look at! I literally stared at the photo all night, hoping that someone else wouldnt buy the car and I'd miss out!
I got lucky and managed to go see the car on the weekend, and brought it home!!
and After is Maiden wash!
Overall it was pretty good. It was pretty rusty in the C pillars, but that was the only real spot where there was any real bad rust! There was lots of dents and various crap over the car though, but for me. I thought it was ACE!
This is a shot of the rust.
Dad and I hired a welder from somewhere though, and welded up the C Pillars (6 years later, they are still looking good, only had a couple of bubbles pop up which i fixed during the last build)
Being a young fella, i honestly had no idea what I was doing. My dad had never done up a car either, so it was up to me to go out and research how to do things! So with the help of these forums, i asked lots of questions and learnt most of what i know today off here! I met a bloke by the name of Gary (Guns N Roses), he offered to help me with the painting and stuff, he guided me in the right direction and gave me a rough idea of how to tackle things!
He also talked me into not just building an ok daily driver, but a car that is very cool and be a bit of a head turner! So he talked me into spending all my money (Worked at Macca's part time, so all my pay went into this)
After probably about a year of having the car, i had it ready for paint! So I tarped up the mighty car port, and Gary came over and painted the car for me!
There is a skinny version of me... Proud as punch!
Ok, Thats enough for now! I'll add more later!
