At this point I'm asking myself:
"What is this bugger really up to? :<_<:
We've all seen a million pics of the forum's most photographed car?
I reckon there has been a BIG mod. that might be revealed in the finale'?

Well, when i finally decided to take MRLXSS off the road and re-do it again. The Paint was looking pretty shabby, and rust was starting to come through again...

Well Gary (Guns N Roses) came over and and he forced me to start it!

Finally cut my guards under my flares! This is how it looked when my flares came off!
Posted Image

Previously i had just hit the guards out with a Hammer, but my 245's still scrubbed...

This time i cut the guards properly and there is SO much more clearance!
Posted Image

The plans for this build, was to do it in about 8 weeks! I had to get the car to the 3rd Annual GMH-Torana Drag Day at Heathcote.

I had just finished Uni, so i had a bit of spare time, and i literally spent everyday on it for about a month prepping it for paint!

Cut my hole! Much betterer!
Posted Image

Converted the front brakes!
Posted Image

Oh yeah! Convo's are hot!
Posted Image

And the Stripdown and Body work began!

I didn't know your car had been through such a transformation, you have done very well, especially considering you haven't hade any experience with doing up cars too much before hand.

is Rodomo right, are you up to something?

Eagerly awaiting the remainder of the build.

Cheers.

Awesome stuff Mattster! It's funny, I was thinking recently that I don't have a build thread on these current forums either. I will get one happening soon, this has inspired me! Nothing better than looking back over the build.

Ok, Back to the rebuild.

I tried not to rush myself, so if something wasnt looking right, i didnt just say "f*ck it, it'll do" I rubbed it back and kept trying!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Wraith75 came down one weekend, and helped me rub back the passenger door, it was by far the worst panel on the car... So we both spent a whole day on that trying to get it as straight was we could!

I also got this hatchlid from Wraith that was heaps better than my old one. I spent a few days getting this one straight and rust free

Posted Image

It was about this time i was getting impatient, and had to see what the colour was going to look like. So i painted up my GTS mirrors (replaced the Ford XB Mirror i had before)

Posted Image

I also re-painted my Dash

Posted Image

and Also put a bit of paint on the floor

Posted Image

Brodomo also came over and did some welding for me! Bloody legend! He fixed up rust around the C-Pillar

Posted Image

And also welded up a crack that always seems to happen, where the window frame joins the body here

Posted Image

Thanks again for that help mate!! :spoton:
