Clocked up 400km's on the beast now!!!! Did another 70kms last night in it... Spewing the weather turns to shit today and for the weekend!!!! BASTARDS!

Absolutely loving the T700!!! It makes for bloody awesome cruising! Sitting at 90-100kms its sitting under 2800rpm, once I hook up the lock-up clutch that will drop even lower! It took a while to set the TV cable so it was spot on with the gear changes and stuff, but I'm happy with how it shifts at the moment while in D (I gotta get a pro to adjust the shifter cable, I just can't get it right!)

To be honest, if you want to build a car that is made for cruising, you gotta have a TH700!!! The really short 1st gear is great for having a bit of fun as well! haha.

Well done Matt

Good to see it all come together especially knowing that all you have to do is give it a tap and she's on :driving:

Got the Torana out for the first time in the 2012 Last night! Enjoyed every minute of it! Took my camera along with me, seeing as though I hadn't got good photos of it since getting it back on the road.

It was a bit dirty though! HAHA! Didnt think about that!

Gonna finally get the exhaust finished off next week... Been a bit slack about that! HAHA!
Fuel System is now done!
Still gotta rip the dizzy out and get it 'locked out'
Then once all that is done, I'll book it in to get tuned!
Also need to get the shifter cable sorted as it doesn't click through the gears perfectly... I'll get a professional to sort that out! haha

If you think one over drive gear ratio is good....you should try it with two of them... T56 is .5 for 6th gear... ;)

HAHA! Yeah, that would be nice! Once I have a lock up convertor hooked up, that is kinda like getting an extra half gear! HAHA

I had a truck around years ago that was a T700 (truck was like a '92 or so? extra cab) and the previous owner had added a gear vendors overdrive unit on the back of the 700 for some reason or other. That was kind of unique for back in it's day, ha ha..

My new truck is a factory 6 speed auto, and took a little getting used to with it shifting so often compared to all the ones I have had over the years with 4 speed auto's.

Not too bad with the 6 speed manual though, since you can just pick a gear and leave it there as long as you want (especially with enough torque to pull away at low revs)

I thought I'd give a bit of an update, some friends on facebook have already seen these shots.

The exhaust system is finally finished! haha! It's the first time in YEARS that I've had tail pipes on the car, and its amazing how much quieter it now is in the cabin! I can actually speak to the passenger in the car now! HAHA! I might have to hook up the CD player now, as it can actually be used.

The tail pipes have quietened it down a bit, which is good for street duties, it was probably a touch too loud to be cruising around with... Got a bit too much attention and I felt bad driving it around the local streets too late at night... Now its much better!

Still has a really good note though, and is still pretty loud when you mash the go pedal!

I'm really happy with the quality of work the Exhaust guy did. It's tucked up really high and you only see the tail pipes if you look for them!

It was done by Hillside Exhaust in Ferntree Gully, Jay down there is a great guy and does an awesome job! Might have taken a bit longer than I originally thought, but in the end I'm not fussed, it wasn't like I was in a rush! HAHA!

Anyway, the Dizzy is currently out to get locked up and sorted out to suit my engine. Then after that I'll be booking it in for a Dyno Tune! I can't wait to be honest! It'll be great to see what it pulls on the dyno!

Looks good to see the pipes tucked right up in there. You end up selling your 290 stroker or has it been relagated to 'garage art'?

Make sure you post your dyno numbers Matt. You will probably be pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I am guessing you will see the 300 RWHP mark.

We should take bets on how much it pulls... I'll bet 312RWHP...

Top stuff Matt. Now if only you had a 4 door to go with it...

HAHA! Yeah I'll be sure to share what it pulls on the dyno!

Engine builder says it should be 450hp at the fly wheel, just not sure how much I'll lose through the T700 & 9"...

Well, with the Eastside Cruisers Dyno Day on tomorrow, I have had to do a little bit of work to it in preparation.

The Dizzy has all be sorted now, and i really did notice the difference when that went back in! Much better to drive now and definitely more power down low! Also got the proper spark plugs in there now as per the ignition guys recommendation.

I have also put some new rocker covers on, I didn't feel like stuffing around with oil catch cans for the moment, and the engine doesnt breath that hard anyway which is good. So I've just got some new rocker covers that I have fitted some breather too! They look pretty tough too!

I still gotta get some bolts for them today, but here they are sitting in place.

I'll update the thread after the dyno on Sat... It'll be interesting to see what power it pulls un-tuned... Also power is normally down on these days thanks to the crappy air quality in the building courtesy of many back to back runs...

Oh, BTW, I've also bought a 45 degree fitting to get that fuel hose away from the top radiator hose, before anyone says anything! HAHA!

Hey MRLXSS
Awesome thread and sweet car!!
I havn't read the whole thread but I was wondering whats holding your drop tank up? Is it the straps or is it bolted up through the boot floor?
