When i put the chrome cups in a few weeks ago, i managed to clean snap the copper oil line in the fitting... So i had to buy a new oil line (Only for the fittings! dammit)
Anyway, I thought instead of running the new line, i would just use the new fittings on the old line. All well and good, fitted it all up, thought it was all going well. Tested it and it all worked fine... Thought i'd just run it up to temperature seeing i had started it in a few weeks....
Then i noticed a very slow leak seaping out! DAMMIT!!!
The old copper line is a poof-teenth smaller in size, so all the fittings are a slightly different size! And because they crimp to the line the little cone shaped fitting could not be re-used!! DAMMIT!!!! What to do, what to do...
Well, i had 1 more of the cone bits (from the other end of the fitting...) I thought i would try one more approach... This time with Teflon Tape as my friend...
I used all the new fittings again and used lots of Tape and wrapped it around the line to make it that poof-teenth thicker... Anyway, this approach worked! It all is oil tight now and doesnt leak, and seems to be held in a heap better than it was previously! So double bonus!
I also remounted the guages on the heater vent, they were sitting too far forward and you could see the mounts holding the cups... So I mounted them as far back as they could go, and it looks a HEAP better than before! I don't have my own drill yet, so to create the holes, i used a trusty Soldering Iron, and just melted a hole through it! PERFECT! LOL It was the exact size i needed for my screws!
This pic probably looks the same as the last, but its not... The guages are sitting further back now!

I'm a bit flabbergasted by that... how does a man work on his car without the proper tools? Make sure you drop hints to the right people about what you need for Christmas!I don't have my own drill

HAHA! Nah i don't own MY OWN Drill... Since moving out into my own place, i cant steal dads power tools and use them.
So i haven't started my own inventory of power tools... I went to buy a drill on Sunday, but the Hardware store had sold out of the one i was after. So they are ordering it in for me! Then I'll need an angle grinder!
Currently my list of power/specialty tools consists of
- Compressor
- Spray Gun
- Tyre Inflator
- Hydraulic Jack
- Soldering Iron
- Beer Fridge

Let me know if you do intend going to the torana fest. You could always have a stop over here overnight (I have a workshop nearby now) have somewhere safe for your car (and mine) and we could cruise up together.

But maybe thats because Ive been brought up on a farm, tools everywhere man!
Then again, they cost money, and that stuff is best left in your pocket until you need to hand it out eh.
Spend it wisely Matt, you're old enough to know what the decent tools are.
Unless you're bored enough to burn out a Super-Works angle grinder every month and take it back and kindly ask...."Can I have a replacement?"
Done that more than thrice.
Smartened up and got a Makita.

They're not all bad, I had a $20 angle grinder which lasted me through years of abuse. It finally wore the brushes away and when I went to install the spare set that came with it turned out they were the wrong size, so it actually died of old age, never broke down!Unless you're bored enough to burn out a Super-Works angle grinder every month and take it back and kindly ask...."Can I have a replacement?"
There is no substitute for having the right tools on hand and I guess I just can't stand borrowing things, have to have my own.

Nah mate, not heading up. Waaay to far for me to drive.... Maybe if they add some driving events i might be keen... But its a loooooooooong Drive for a static car show! HAHA! Thanks for the offer anyway mate!
Yeah, it kinda sucks.... But hey i have my own house, and have just bought my own shed! And that will be the best tool purchase i have ever made!Im utterly bewildered at the lack of tools you have!

Your not wrong about having the right tool for the job! I Truely appreciate all the tools i have, because I have gone without and know how hard a job can be with the wrong tools!
Just like in the movie Gran Torino, how Clint Eastwoods character says a man builds up his tool invetory over a life time and not over night, that is how i see it as well! struggle now, suceed later!

- New Drill! - Black and Decker corded drill (hate having to worry about battery packs!)
- New Spirit Level (Damn, the concrete slab for the shed isnt level! LOL)
- New Bush saw (To trim back trees so they don't drop limbs on my car!)
- Also a few other minor shed filling stuff. Can't wait to get the shed up now. And make my own shadow board with all the tools hanging on it!
The weather this weekend looks like its going to be fantabulous! So i will try and get the torry out and blow out some cobwebs!

They are torque adjustable, so you dont over/under tighten them.
Much faster than using a drill.

Seriously never heard of one of them, but it sounds like a good thing to have for backyard construction.
