Wow, just had another read through this, really puts a smile on my face, and ideas in my head!

2010 is already looking like a good year, so hopefully I'll have some more spare time and cash to have a play with the torana again this year!

I'd love to start fixing the steering, and getting a start on an engine upgrade!

Got this off a mate, couldn't resist! Now, I just need a motor that will get it to spin to 10,000!

hahaha when I put my monster tacho in BBQ-202 I consciously did not update the thread hahahah

That shift light position looks a bit awkward to me, but the white backlight is nicer than my yellow one... Might sort that out sooner rather than later having seen this

rodomo - hehehe : )

It's true though. I think the monster tach has had it's day, and is now the first accessory for your new hyundai excel or honda civic.

What's wrong with the tach in the dash?

Don't get me wrong, your car is awesome. This is just how I handle my jealousy : )

If you want more to do in the car while driving it, add a clutch pedal : ) hint hint......

Failing that, you can give your car to me :buttrock:

bloody good read :) great work. reminds me of when i was in high school, coming home working on my little fraud escort in the car port. stripped it to a bare shell with a dodgey little socket set and some hand me down spanners.... and a hammer!
great result

Why dont you look at throwing a stand alone shift light somewhere?

might be a bit less, in your face then the tacho.

do cops in Vic ping you for monster tachos? they love em down here

Oh, I updated my thread for other reasons, then when looking through pics to see if i had actually updated anything... It was something i always wanted, ever since i went in LXCHEV, when i was about 16, i thought they were tough as! So always wanted to get one in my Hatch... One day it will have the power to actually justify it! Until then... its just cosmetic (Its hooked up and works though)

With the light, it is a yellow light, but cos of the silver backing, that pic made it look white...

Tach in the Dash is alright (It still works behind the tacho too! LOL). At least with a monster tacho in my car, people will think it actually there for a reason... In an Excel/civic, it just screams wanker!

Could i give you my car for a resto? LOL as long as you give it back! HAHAHA!

And i use to have a clutch pedal, but changed to an auto, cos one day this car will do wheel stands! And i've got a better chance of being able to afford that if its a manual.

Yeah, I miss those days, as shit as they were, i loved every single minute of it! This car is the reason i'm with my Missus and have been for like 4 years now! She saw my car at a party and couldnt resist! (The car, not me)

I haven't actually driven with it in that position yet, so im sure i'll try it in a few locations to see what best suits. To be honest, the cops down here don't usually hassle the muscle cars unless they are playing up. But I don't drive the car all that much to attract attention. I also haven't heard of anyone getting in trouble for a Tacho/Shift light... Lucky you can't really see it from the outside of the car.

I'm still completely up in the air about the next motor, one part of my brain is screaming 355, quick, easy and relatively cheap but is a bit common, and still a pig to drive... Then the other side of me is yelling LS2, crazy power, unlimited potential, great all round performer.. But its pricey, will be a head ache and at the end of the day it will sound like a Commodore! LOL.

Another reason why orange is awesome!

Anyway, back to the subject : ) Tacho does look good there. Much better than pillar mount.

Wheel stands sound good. Love to see that

As for doing a resto on your car, hell yeah I'd love to. I can probably almost nearly guarantee that I'd give it back. Probably

Nice car :spoton: really like the interior too it suits it perfectly (except for the vandalism on the dash).. now whens it getting a real engine in it? :stirpot: heheh..btw i like the tacho i much preferred that style in my torana's too as they were much easier to see then the old in dash one and at the drag strip you can just watch your RPM and time your shifts nicely which is great when you cant hear your own car over the guy in the other lane beside you.

I never bothered with a tacho/shift light till i started to race the monaro!
While you drive by ear and seat of the pants, a big yellow light yelling *SHIFT* is good when you give the keys to the missus (to beat you down the 1/4 :Headbang2: )

:spoton:
