There ya go matty!
See what Mumbo can do... You'll get there EASY :)

Traction is always your enemy.. but ya know.. that's a pretty fun problem to have hehehe!

My next step will be gas... only cause it's the most cose effective power gain and my engine is already built for it, so we'll give her a whiff one day and see if we cant get kicked out for breaking into the 10s!

W00t! Another build thread coming!! get into it mate!

That wheelstand from the white Torana is awesome.

235/60/15 ET street radials i think with tuning it will do high 10,s.It only runs a Crane 280 solid cam i have a roller for it yet but i dont think my rods are strong enough fo mutch more.If you are interested i can give you a run down of my comp combo it was built on a tight budget.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea - can you start a thread on it ?

Surprised nobody has suggested going the carbed chev rhoute! much easier and cheaper to extract good reliable HP from a chev then a 308 imo..and if you are worried about chassis twist install a rod shop chassis kit and half cage. :spoton:

Had a dyno day with Eastside Cruisers on Saturday, the ute was planned to go on the rollers, but its out of action courtesy of the hail. So I took the Torana down.

Pulled 141rwkw, which is basically identical to what it pulled in the past (142.9rwkw). Everyone else was complaining about air temps/quality, and figures being drastically lower, but to only drop 2kw i was happy!

I also disconnect the 12v to the coil i had hooked up, and didnt drop any power, so i think a new coil is in order (proper elec one) and re connect the 12V. Might also get a new dizzy graphed for Petrol not gas to suit my cam! If i can pick up some more power! BONUS! Might also finally upgrade to the Performer manifold i have in the shed! HAHA!

Hey Matt
Still remember the sound of your hatch "nice" definately not your typical thong slapper 253.

Good to see you are still enjoying it.

Definitely doesn't sound 253ish. :D Not a bad power figure either, can be improved though :deal:

Top work matty, Sounds very tough on the dyno. Thats one very nice hatch you've built, it' just shows you dont have to have the best tools and biggest shed to build a nice car, it's a credit to you mate.

Will have to catch up for a few beers and a photoshoot when i finally get mine finished and over to get the cam done.

I just have to say...

Congratulations to my over 10 year old, 290 Stroker. I know you were originally built for gas and your cam, manifold and dizzy have been set-up to work best on straight gas... But i still reckon you go alright just the way you are on old petrol!

You put in a solid 5-600km's over the weekend, and i trashed the crap out of you up at Heathcote! You managed to pull off a 14.5 @ 97mph for me (not your best i know, 14.4 is!)... Which was enough to comfortably beat MR5000, with his new 308. You also weren't far off many other 308'd Torana's on the day. For a $400 motor, I can't really ask for much more!

GO THE 290! Take that MR5000! LOL
