Hi All,

I have looked at a couple of LJ GTRs recently that had ADR tag with month that differs to the production date from the vehicle master listing.

The cars had their tags removed by the owners. but were with the cars.

One I looked at had ADR tag that matched inner guard and date on ADR tag was February. However when I looked up on fische production date was listed as 6th March.

Is this normal? Where ADR tags added to the LJ body, before the other tags were added?

Just want to make sure these are genuine cars, They have both been Adelaide cars. both had had front end repairs with "new" but genuine GTR guards fitted.

Any help or comments appreciated,

Regards Simon

I have a made a dB with HQ-Z vins, body numbers and chassis numbers and I have found early HQ's that vary by a month or 2. I think what happens is the body is built, gets a body number, then is stored for a short time (depending on body style/model), engine and chassis added w/chassis number then sent down the line painted and given a PSN. Early HQ 81837 manuals seem to be the worst examples I have recorded 2 with body numbers in the 100's, chassis numbers in the 1000's and a PSN that puts them down the line 3 months later.

Given some of the errors that appear on Holden's verification letters Im not surprised that some of the records dont match the actual car. The date of production might have been when the car left the production line, but was ADR'd when it had the engine joined to the chassis.

82911JL212482 JP212141 COMPLETED 11-09-1972

Here is a prime example Simon, a 08/72 ADR plated LJ XU-1 that was completed on the 11-09-1972. This sort of stuff seems to be standard sort of stuff for Adelaide built cars.........

Brisbanes on the other hand appear to run in sequence unlike there Adelaide counterparts.

I like this one, its a 08/72 ADR plated LJ XU-1 that was completed in October and even has an October engine :

Hi, Thanks for the top information, much appreciated and the example.

I hadn't seen it before, but it looks like in Adelaide cars, it's nothing out of the ordinary

Better being ahead than behind seems to be Brisbanes way. Adelaides were all over the shop, Brisbane were certainly on the ball............... :spoton:

On the 1-9-1972 Brisbane built a staggering 33 LJ XU-1,s then cruised through the rest of the month and yes all were ADR plated 9/72.
