Hey does anyone have any pics or info on mini tubs for a lx hatch?? pics would be very helpful... I understand that you can only go upto the rails and it doesnt appear that you will gain a great deal of room from doing this?? Would you also shorten the diff (currently a 9") or just change the wheel offset? Any help would be appreciated..
Cheers.

There are some pics and a bit of a rundown of what I am doing to my 4 door in this thread.... http://www.gmh-toran...showtopic=35451

If anything a hatch would be easier.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for that mate it was pretty helpful!!! Im just toying up if I should move those back rails for some more room as you have done?? Im kind of trying to stay legal with it all as it will have to go over the pits when Im done as Im in the slow process of sloting a L76 Gen 4 into an LX Hatch. Bit of homework is required but should be worth it!!!!
Motors runing a fairly mild cam and a few other little bits and pieces and should be somewhere around 500fwhp (for now!!), Should get up and go!! and be a bit of fun to drive..

Cheers for the help!!

Yeah cheers mate that would be awesome!!! Im not a fan of the flares and really need to get some bigger tyres under their!!
Any info you have on how you did it would be a great help as I dont really want to have to cut the rails at all as it might affect me when I go over the pits??
Email me or post pics and info on here? Whatevers easier for you? Some detailed pics would be great!!
Also did you shorten your diff up to suite the tubs(what lengh?) or offset your wheels? (what offset/size?)

Thanks for the help!

You dont have to tub to get some decent rubber under the rear gaurds unflared
If you get your diff cut short enough and wheel offsets right thats a good start, If you cut the inner gaurd out and weld it agains the chassis rail, remove the dust covers from the shocks and roll the gaurd lips you can just squeeze a 285 under there

i run 265's unflared with the above mods with no hassles, the next set of tyres will be 285's

Heres some pics to show what was done.

you'll need mini tubs to get 275's with a good ride height. all the un tubbed cars with big tyres sit like 4wd's. i can get 3" of rim under the guard nicely ;) but am aiming for the rim to sit level with the guard.you'll need to mod the tub and the rear part of the chassis rail

pick a rim and tyre size before you go any futher. 275 and 285's (street tyres, non drag radials) are no longer available in australia (50 series) even bfgoodrich dont make them anymore.there are several brands of 295/50/15. other than that you'll have to settle for 265's.unless you import the tyres yourself.

also be aware that a 275 et street is 10 mm+ wider on the same rim than a normal 275/50. infact my 305/30/19's are the same width as a 275/50/15(wall to wall measurements)

What Greenmachine 215 has done is exactly what I used to do years ago.

In fact you can further beat the rail in at this point and fit a 26x10.5x 14 slick.

Hey thanks for all the help!! I think that I will be going this way to make it a little easier when going over the pits!! Maybe later go some bigger tubs and move the chassis rail!
Thinking of moving shocks inboard aswell anyway..
Hey greenmachine215 Would you know the lengh of your shortened diff?

Thanks guys, appreciate it!
