LXCHEV: At an exchange rate of 91 US cents to the Aussie dollar (just as a guess), it would be landed for just under $10k. That's using the cheaper Sea Freight as a guide, which is US$950
Cheers

you know you want to go injected LSX just so you can buy my stuff! hahahaha
I reckon keep it under bonnet (no big shiny metal mountain) low blow it or vortech it!
The only person without an opinion in here is Brett though! haha, what do you want to do Brett? mild or wild this time around?

If money was no object, I would go wild with the new engine setup for sure... but sadly, there is no money to play with, let alone a decent amount of money. So whenever it happens, it'll be as mild as possible. I'm even contemplating something like a mild 300-350HP SBC with a Supra 5 speed behind it! Would be a total change, and just enjoy the car for another few years like that, then change back one day to a big HP engine & auto again...
Too many ideas!
Let's wait for the autopsy first.

Tiny: I know of an Eagle-cranked Torana that is going to turn significant revs whilst leading a red Monaro over the line in July, lol. Sorry, couldn't resist that one, just jokes, and quite looking forward to it.
*touch`e*
Cant wait mate ( by the way.. Simmo and i now will be wearing the same coloured helmets )
Sorry for stealing your thread Brett!

I LOVE the SBC / 5 speed idea!! Would be ace!

:(
You dont do things by halves do you!!!
By the looks of it the valve did the damage and the pist-off said "ENOUGH!!" after about 300 Revs (LOL!)
That's sad mate.... but if there was ever a time for a new combo
Hope you can work it out soon mate! the beast will not be kept down!

I would love to know what actually broke first... I guess there's lots of possible scenarios.
Cheers guys.

I have to ask (and you probably mentioned it earlier!) but what were you doing at the time it went?

Haha yeah, do you think I can get away with a quick hone job??

it wouldve dropped the head off the valve i reckon, unless it never had enough piston to valve clearance.
Mate, there's a chance you can repair your block/coffee table with a sleeve. Plenty of serious motors gettin around with sleeves. Same goes for your head, with a repair it will be as good as new.

I would say for some reason (sticky guide, valve bounce) the valve has been in the wrong place at the wrong time, the piston has hit the valve and broken the head off it and then it has all come undone.
That block is stuffed. There is not enough bore wall left to support a sleeve. Get another block. 4 bolt SBC's are still around, someone GAVE me a 060 over 010 4Blt block the other day that honed up perfectly !
If piston bits got under the intake then they will be in every cylinder so check all the conrods for straightness. Chuck the pistons out. Get the crank checked to make sure its not bent. Heads should be repairable.
Good luck and keep us posted !!

Yeah a manual box would be nice. Definitely more fun on the street!
