Ive got a nice little stack of paint cans at home now too.
Bought 4 litres of hi-fill, hardener, deoxidine, rust preventative paint (for the floor), GMH black etc.
I'll buy the white paint once the car has been hi-filled and Im ready to use it.

Pictures on monday if I dont get around to it tomorrow.
Doors have some small bumps and some scratches from where someone has 80 gritted them off, so a wipe of fine bog will fix that for now.
Other then that, its looking good!!
starts first go now too, even with the dodgy plugs and unknown service history, very happy.

I wouldnt paint it matt black in a million years!
Ive got some areas to attend to, then a light rub, few more coats of primer (only 2 on there ATM) and then I'll give it a guide coat, final rub down and paint.

How straight is it Chris? It looks quite good in the photos, but cameras & primer can both be deceiving
I hope it hadn't been in the state it was in for very long.

The guy who we bought it off, bought it off (so 2 owners before us) Stripped it down and started fixing things ready for his daughters boyfriend to paint it.
Usual story, couple broke up, ute became a "space filler" in the blokes shed, so he sold it to Mick, who had it under a tarp/leanto thing and a car cover in the backyard at his joint, he owned it for about a month and decided he had enough projects around (I counted 5 others from prems to a stepside converted 1 tonner ute)
But there was bugger all in the way of surface rust, which said to me that it hadnt been sitting in weather or anything.
The sides are actually pretty straight, as is the roof.
One rear 1/4 has a bit of a "flop" above the wheel arch, But its not all that noticeable. Im thinking of just getting my mate to poly fill it and be done with it.

But, thats said we got a play at the snow on sunday afternoon and some general messing about in. Ray and Mum covered their own accomodation and some of their meals, but we covered as much as we could afford for them.

Its going to be doing daily freeway runs, so I want to be able to fit cheaper, new and safer tyres (then the old hard rubber thats on it, and the drying up supply of decent 14 inch sizes/patterns etc)
Ive just been looking at all the wheels in the adverts in Just parts (there is one that sells tonnes of different wheels)
Id be happy to run 15" chasers, But im not going to trust the commodore on HQ crap on a daily driven car, so Im going to have to spend some money eventually to find a decent set of wheels hey.

Dads WB One Tunna
This is dads latest project. Bought it as a cheap run-around for about $1500 with some 14inch jellybean things on it, and it has now turned into his project. It built on a big budget and the spare cab he picked up for about $50.
The wheels he bought for them are Centreline Fluted stars. He had the same wheels on his Big Block Premier that he sold 3 years ago and he got them for around $700 off ebay when the person listed them wrong. Turns out when I went to pick them up, I saw the Prem sitting in the guys garage with the 454 ripped out and a 480 something stroker going back in on stockies
Just chucking it up so you can have a look at maybe get some ideas amd you can each share your wisdom on building utes

So far its looking like this-
Purchase price totalled $1000 (including the trip)
Paint and panel- $200 (4L of 2pack primer, 2 litres of 2 pack hardener, 5 litres of wax and grease remover, 2 litres of metho, 2 litres of thinners and a 300ml bottle of De-ox-it)
HQ GTS dash (assuming it will fit) $120 (swapping a dash facia for a price reduction)
Now, looking at what needs doing-
white 2 pack paint- $200 max
Retrim and repack front bech seat- $250
General service-$100 (oil filter, oil, plugs, leads etc etc) may still drop gearbox and diff oils too, just going to see how I go
Rego+insurance (full comp)-$900
Carpet and underlay- $200 max
New screen +installation- $250odd
So im at about $3220 for that so far.
things like new ball joints, some rubbers, boss kit to fit the momo wheel etc etc
are all going to throw me right on or a smidge over our limit.
Im really banking on getting this panel van for a couple cartons of beer, if not, Im going to just get a new front apron, and bodge up the gaurds/bonnet to use until I can afford a decent set.
So wheels are also on the "to do in the future" list.
Ive got a set of decent treaded 235/14 tyres to throw on for now (they are a bit hard, but will do to start, just wont be a wet weather car!)
Im also going to try and stretch the budget to accomodate some lowering blocks for the back too.
This all hinges on us being able to sell the corolla though, otherwise it will be a painted shell with a trimmed seat and not much else!
