Its there tiny, just doesnt show up well in the photos. :)

I knew there were a few little highs and lows in the body work, they just always seem a bit "less" when its in primer.

Ive had to keep telling myself (and Karlie has helped) that its only a "work" ute and it will see a shitload of abuse in the next few years (carting the dog around etc)

I need a big injection of $$ to get it finished, we had a whole heap of unexpected bills to pay just before christmas that drained the bank account.

Slowly recovering from it, but will be a while before I can afford to get the ute finished (unfortunately)

About bloody time you posted the photos! Looks like a fairly clean body to me mate, should come up nicely with a good polish and you'll still be afraid to leave it in carparks!

Thanks Wayne,

Interior is still sitting as a dogs chair at the moment!

Ive got a full black, perfect knick dash pad, GTS dash and gauges, black under dash etc.

So the dash is all sorted.

Im going to get the bench seat retrimmed and repacked (so its not so "bouncy")

Im still trying to find some door trims though, Ive only got one, and unfortunately you cant just make your own from MDF for these!

But id like to get them trimmed at the same time.

Im going to go for a dark grey cotton material for the trim (like the commodore "mesh" type stuff) maybe with some form of insert.

I dont want to do black as it always shows the lighter dirt scuffs up easier.

Same for the carpet, dark grey.

Once I get it cut and buffed, I'll get the windows thrown in and the cabin sealed up, then I can start on the interior.

nope 2pack.

Im not a big fan of acrylic, especially on a daily that wont always see the TLC it deserves!

Carla is a weird dog, loves every other animal except rats (they steal her biscuits from her bowl so she has it in for them!)

Cut most of the ute back on saturday (35 degree heat rocks!)

1000 grit to start, then finished up with 1200.

Now just buffing it back with some ultra fine compound and lambs wool pad.

Pictures of the weekend-

The passengers side 1/4 had a MASSIVE run in it (almost the full length of the panel)

I cut 80% of it out, but dont want to go too much further as im unsure of the remaining paint density in the surrounding areas..

Posted Image

still have the passengers door and front gaurd to do (buff crapped itself! looks like the switch is just worn out, it is like 30 years old though!)

and had these laying around (off my mums SS, came to live at my joint for a while as she got new wheels)

So threw them on for shits and giggles (I know I cant run them due to the stud pattern difference :) )

Will have to hurry up and get those lowering blocks into the thing! its a 4wd at the rear!

The thing that surprised me, was the commodore offset fouls on the chassis/inner wheel arch on the inside at the rear, It would need a 1/2" spacer to come close to beign driveable (but still the stud difference)

Ohh well, pipe dream hey!

Lee,
I wouldnt mind some HQ GTS wheels, redwalls would really set it off too.

the only problem Ive got is finding a set that I can afford, and then keeping tyres on them (with the lack of decent 14" tyres)

I still need to go round to a family friends house and sort out getting his simmons V5s from him (if he will part with them!)

But cash is the major drama at the moment.

Bart,
Im still undecided on what to do with the tray. Polished timber would look schmik as, but the dog would make short work of the finish!

I think the spray on bed liner kits will be the best option and still look half decent.

Im going to built a marine carpet+marine ply section behind the cab for the dog (so she isnt always sitting/standing on the tray)

Will help if we ever want to take her on a long trip in the ute.

Get a big bit of rubber and cut to match the floor of the tray, stops things sliding around better than the ribbed floor and can pull it out and wash it easy. The bed liner stuff is good too, but doesn't offer any traction

Don't forget to put in a tie down for the dog. Its Illegal now not to have the dog restrained in the car.
