Convo spinners are on order, something about production delays in bangledesh? :P

Got a lot of work done over the past few days.

Buffed the rest of the car (fixed the buff! hooray!)

and then set about doing this-

Also put the passengers side together-

Im actually VERY impressed with the Rares rubbers, the bailey channel fits in the slot perfectly and the weather strips are also perfect. (which for me was a surprise)

also-

equals

roped in the rear window to keep any weather out.

door catches and handles are all on the car, only thing I need to get sorted now is the key locks for the doors, out off all the locks and all the keys, none fit each other!

pulled the old hoodlining out, ready to go to the trimmer for a new one to be made up.

so this is how it looked at the end of the weekend-

The 17s sit waaay too far inside the gaurds though, but it does give me the bad idea of fitting 10s on the rear eventually! (lots of space :) )

Nice, that's a good sign that the doors and window frames are actually straight which is becoming less and less common

I think the 17s look bloody awful to be honest, everything else is great though :spoton:

hahaha, each to their own hey. I dont like where they sit, but if they were an extra inch out and an inch bigger, they would look great IMO! (thats forgetting the whole different stud pattern thing)

Surpisingly the door alignment is pretty good too, door gaps are great and they close/open nicely.

Might have to put the ute on hold for a few weeks,

VT started making some odd noises last night (PS rear wheel and PS front wheel) so Im pulling it down tonight to see whats up, but it doesnt sound too good!

Also realised that the rear tyres on it are down to the radials... whoops! it does do 1000kms a week though and the tyres have done 15-20k kms

Thanks for the comments guys.

Lowering blocks are on order, $85 worth (wont blow the bank!)

Only problem was that the largest they do is 2.5"

so hopefully that will level it out enough.

If not, I will just do what Dirtbag has suggested and flip a leaf to the top.

The only drama there is that it requires me to pull them out and I dont really want to..... (laziness)

Thanks for the kind word Mick!

The 14s will have to do to start with, then I will start looking around for something a bit more interesting.

How many kms has it done? It can be very worthwhile pulling them out for a look as the bushes and pivot bolts in the hangers get very worn out - I've seen some close to snapping and its not uncommon

speaking of GTS wheels you can buy them new from summit, in a range of sizes 14, 15 & 16" and up to 10" wide. prices arent too bad but dont forget its in $US + shipping costs

http://www.summitrac...sc&autoview=SKU

My hatch will have HQ pattern when I do the brakes and diff so I will be going for them in the sliver

the ute is looking good too, your almost there

I posted a pic earlier of my father-in-law's now sold HJ Ute. Had 15" GTS style rims from CMP... offset was a bit funky though.

f*cking frumpy and fat as usual.

still hanging around unfortunately, Karlie and I are playing "the bigger people" at the moment (figuratively speaking, its near impossible to be bigger then big RFS!)

We still make jokes behind her back with Ray and give her scowling looks wherever possible, but we are playing it civil when mums around! haha.

Lowering blocks in tomorrow and finish wiring/fitting the headlights and blinker assemblies!

Still havent managed to get down to see my trimmer though.

I might fix the front PS ball joint while I have it up on stands over the weekend too.

Cant wait to see it lower!

Lowering blocks are in after some stuffing about.

Main problem was the freaking rain!

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

Its all getting a nice coat of flat black paint as soon as the weather improves, will just make the blocks a bit less conspicuos.

just sat the new blinkers and the old headlight surrounds in for a look at what it looks like.

Posted Image

Im actually impressed with the fit of the corner lights aswell, they look to be a decent reproduction, so far, for the ute, Rares have really come through for me.

The only thing they pissed me off with was that they wanted $110 for an oil pressure sender, I got it through my brother for $50.....

100%+ markup on their behalf.

also, this is Carla.... in one of my old work jumpers I was cutting up for rags, giant sunnies and a mexican hat....

Karlie is obviously getting her dress up skills ready for when we have kids! haha.

Posted Image

She appoligised later on though with a big smooch-

I had a look at all my spares on the weekend, LOTS of stuff to go on Ebay now.

Full twin headlight front clip, gaurds, nosecone etc.
Lots of mirrors
Lots of headlight buckets
Scuttle grille
2xHQ GTS dash facias (restored)
original HX kingswood cluster (restored)

Lots of dash plastics
Dash pad (Im going to fix it up and paint it before I sell it, should get some more $$)
windscreen
2x rear windows (one with rubber)
heaps of sealed beam headlights
blah blah blah.

will have lots more space then!

Its a shame you are so far away, I would be very interested in that twin headlight front clip.

Haha good luck! Also it doesn't quite look properly seated in your pic, is the locator in the middle of the block a bit long and hitting on the axle tube?

Blinkers look good
