I checked while I was at Fraser Coast Bolts and they have HEAPS of same sized washers of varying thickness down to very thin brass/copper ones...I was there after reading your post and thought thats a good point..better check if there are various ones you can use...so I guess if you have a specialist in that field locally they will be able to help you out. The main reason for the change was it took away the drama of them ever fallling out...which has and does happen...just one less thing to worry about. And once you get the camber etc set right...it shouldn't move too much anyway so adjustments would be minor.

Clarification...I call all my mates Boofhead...even my 2 sons..it is a good thing..not a slap..

OK..I need to point out regarding cant get in there..I was refering to having a V8 in the bay...doing a six is easy...with the V8..I just wedge the inside spanner to hold the nut...and undo them from the outside of the subframe....one man job...even easier from underneath in a wheel alignment pit.

Drop the front subframe.

Fit the UC top arms while you are at it.

Drill out the knurling so the bolts are not captive any more.

Fit the amount of washers you need. about 5 3/8 zinc plated ones equals 3 degrees of negative camber..you can halve that for a road car. The only disadvantage to this system is you need to hold the bolt while tightening the nut and its a bit of a squeeze but not too bad.
When the engine is in over a wheel alignment pit...to add or subtract washers the bolt can now move in and out ...impossible as a stock unit with the engine in.

Bolt the subframe back in.

Thanks for that, that is fantastic. Five washers on the way!!!

I'd like to start it now, but I better finish off a few of the other bits that I'm working on first.

My old SS had factory fitted washers/spacers. It was a very late build and internal code.

A couple of front ends I've pulled apart also have had spacers but with shims. I guess the spacers were used to eliminate a large shim stack and to get the alignment pretty close then the shims were used for the fine adjustment.

The spacers were of two different sizes. The small ones to the rear and the larger to the front from memory.

Both front ends were LX RTS.

Yeah, my old LX RTS front end also had the factory spacers (about 10mm thick) but all 4 where the same size.
