Hey guys, I want to run an idea past you all....

For those who don't know, my wife Deb (EHGIRL) works at Autobarn in Bayswater. We've run a couple of car shows in the past with car clubs and stuff, and her boss has shown interest in holding another one.

So Deb and I thought it'd be fun to do something different, and organise a casual car show of Torana's from these forums. It'd be pretty casual - rock up, display our cars from say 9:00am to midday (or later for those who want to hang around). We would be able to block off quite a large area right out the front so there's plenty of room. If we got enough cars, no doubt there'd be some minor prize packs up for grabs or something too.... plus Bunnings will have their sausage sizzle going so lunch is only 20 metres away.

We would hold off for another couple of months until the weather starts improving... early Spring would be perfect.

It's been ages since we all caught up, so what do you think? We could always run a short cruise afterwards too as another possibility.

Please post expressions of interest up and your comments. If there's enough interest, we'll tee it up and get the ball rolling....

Sounding good guys. Keep the replies coming. If we can get 20+ Torries there I think it'd be great and create lots of interest. Of course 30 or more would be even better! It would be awesome to see a range of all the different models. To make it a good show, it'd probably be wise for us to allow non-Torana's along too (eg. like mr5000 said - if the Tozza is not ready, he could bring the Monaro)... Torana's are preferred of course, but if members have other cool cars then why not.

I will definitely take both my sedan and hatchback for sure! Good work Matty, another 2 car household lol! I'm looking forward to seeing your yellow beast out again Gary too! I hope all these other Toranas will be ready in time too... there's some awesome cars in the build right now. I will also word up a few other mates with Torana's who aren't on the forums too - I reckon I'd easily pull another 5 along.

I should also mention - we are looking to this on a Sunday. Saturdays tend not to work as well for shows as a lot of people work. As for dates - what does everyone think? Let's try to aim for either September or October - I've had a chat to Deb about which Sundays suit her, and here are our options:

27th

October
4th
11th

There is no urgent hurry to lock one in, but we need to start deciding.... please let us know if any of those dates clash with other major events, and we can eliminate them from the list.... (when is Bathurst etc??)....

well we dont want sept 27th cause i think carlton will be playing geelong the day before in the gf and ill have a big weekend of celebrating!!!

Yeah, as Gary kinda mentioned... The swannies are going to win all their remaining games, and storm home to the grand final! LOL.

But yeah, 27th Will be GF weekend, and im pretty sure Bathurst is on the 4th.

But any other of those dates I'd be happy with! I reckon we could get 20-30 Torana's along!

I reckon you guys should do it on the 20th of September. It is the day of Toranafest, so all those from Vic that cant make it to Newcastle can have their own little show on the day of the Torana. Just a thought...

I like mitch's idea too - as long as none of the Vic's are going up to Toranafest?? I guess even if we lost a couple of cars it wouldn't matter. One of my mates is talking of trailering his pink 350 Chev powered LH to Toranafest but he's the only one I've heard of.

Let's steer clear of Grand Final weekend and of course Bathurst, so it leaves us with:

Just because you cant make it Toranafest, doesnt mean you should miss out on being in a car show surrounded by Toranas.

Deni ute muster is on the 4th too i think so thats out for myself, now we have a ute we must attend :S

If you open it to all cars well come in the ute minimum! If not a torana or two

Just putting it out there before anyone suggests it that going to a pub sucks; everyone wants beer but no young drivers can have any, everyone has just emptied their wallet for fuel and can't afford a $15 meal

Something with a BBQ at the end is a necessity.
