Am not inAdelaide anymore so sadly I can't give you an address. However chroming is not cheap, at least I have never found it to be cheap.
As an alternative I was recently told they now produce chrome looking powdercoating. It too is expensive but I would at least compare prices first :)

I have a friend who is a powdercoater and he recently informed me of this process and according to him it looks just like chrome. I have not yet been out to his premises to see the finished product so I cannot comment further at this stage.

Check it out! I will be when I next have some chroming to be done.

Cheers
Herne

Just one thing, "cheap" If you are planning on getting everything done, get a few items done well, pay a bit extra and get the rest done later if you can't afford it, you will regret it later otherwise.

I was looking on this site last night trying to find where i heard that saying, and its your signature. cool.

zinc plating looks like its almost chrome, i was thinking of doing my bonnet hinges etc in zinc - does anyone know the price difference with zinc and chrome? Makka told me he got his hinges, bonnet catch and engine bay bolts done in zinc and it cost just over $100.

heres a pic of a zinc plated carby...

I've used Birrels (in woodville/kilkenny i think they were) they did a very nice yellow zinc chromate on all the bonnet hinges, brackets bolts etc. cost me about $40 for a bucket load of stuff, fasteners get barrel plated and brackets rack plated.

Wibrow Zinc Plating (in Lonsdale?) are excellent too, I'd use them if i were still in adelaide.

A Class metal plating do a good electroless nickel too, ask to lok at a sample if your not sure what it looks like., one of the blokes there used to work for Wibrows.

I can vouch for the reputation of all three places.

not sure on chrome plating in adelaide though, there are a lot of back yarders.

So does chrome plating, nickel plating, and zinc plating all have similar looks?
What about price rise and quality wise?
Does anyone have any photos of any of these done?
Do the parts have to be off the car to get done?

Hi Kenno, when I get things made in Adelaide, I use a guy in Edwardstown
call Rick Lepore. He has a large facility for metal spinning and plating
in various forms. His work is top notch.

They are 'old school' when it comes to business and quality.

You can get him on 0408 826 236.

Oh, get him talking about his mint condition FX holden and you'll get
in his good books.

If you ask him who I am, he'll reply "never heard of the bastard?" LOL

Cheers, Leakey

No. Not real chrome.

You could chrome paint, or wrap chromed self adhesive vinyl
over it and cut out the holes.

IMHO both would look crap!!

to chrome a GTS steering wheel you need to slice the rubber of around the seam on the inner and outer edges, then glue it back together when your done, if your good you cant even tell it has been cut off.

Just wondering do they repair the bumper bar first before chroming or do you have to go somewhere else to repair it first
