Nothing has really happened in the last 8 months as I lost the motivation for a while.
I'm curious at to what others do when they've had a break from the car but just can't get back into it.
There's nothing I want more than do than go cruising but it's just not happening.
Any tips on getting motivated would be appreciated

I also stick "Get down to the Shed!" signs in conspicuous places, in my Outlook calendar, etc.
Go on, get down there!

Thankfully I've had some motivation as of recent times which is "get that car going or get it out of my garage".
It turns out mum and dad have finally had enough haha so it's all or nothing at the moment.
I still haven't sorted the steering but today the car has gone in to get the exhaust fitted up to the extractors and the tails haft is being made up at the same time.
Once the car is back home I'll finally be able to start it with the v8.
Then it's time to finally get the steering sorted and all the brakes hooked up.

I got the car back from the exhaust shop today. First thing I did was fit the tailshaft and pull of the f100 drum brakes so they can get a refresh and pulled my steering rack out as a ball joint is seized on that needs replacing.
Slowly getting there, it definitely needs a clean soon

And it's definitely good to finally be getting stuck into it again. The plan is to get everything sorted before end of winter and be driving it again. I plan to have everything engineered so that might take a bit longer but at least I'll be able to drive it minimally.
And then once everything is sorted I'm pretty sure it will get a respray in the same colour as the paint is less than average although it's not obvious from the photos.

My time and money have been invested into building and finishing my first home and the torrie has been on the back burner. It's only when I come on here that I'm reminded of how long it has been.
The only real progress I've had is fitting a repro xu1 tank. The car still hasn't had a wash and has basically become somewhere to put junk.
So it's time to pull my finger out and just get it done. I'm sick of paying rego for a car I don't drive. Fingers crossed this time I stick to the plan.

Some years ago I saw a greyhound named El Jay Torana, any relation?
Good luck with the progress and well done on the house.
Cheers, Tom

The 253 had its first start up yesterday and I haven't stopped smiling since.
The steering should be sorted tomorrow, electrical and brakes in the next month or two as well as some other bits and pieces and then it could (fingers crossed) be time for the first drive with the v8.

Hardest part was getting extractors to fit. Ended up having to get them modified a little .
I had a 307 chev for it but needed to use a 253 for engineering purposes as a 4.2 litre is the largest engine capacity allowed for the weight of my car

Then I may look at a 308 down the line

It wasn't too bad really. It's a bit tight at the rear but not terrible.

Been told the NCOP is only a guide
So if you get a Engineer that will push, you can have a 308 V8.
Nice to see a 4-Door LJ with a Aussie V8.

I found making a list and crossing things off very motivating. Just doing a little job or part there of was helpful.
If you set the engine far enough back it will clear standard steering.

I had two attempts today and couldn't work out why they kept changing. Didn't realise I hadn't bolted the steering column in properly.
Finally I've been looking at getting a new air cleaner and I think this beautiful example is going to be perfect
