well my car has been on the road for a few days, and while getting around to get a few things done, there always seems to be one stranger who thinks its ok to come and touch

the car.

im sick of telling people not to touch my drop tank, because it leaves finger marks.that seems to be the biggest magnet.

what ever happened to respect of peoples property

rant over

People always seem to do that, especially at car shows, they dont get what the sign "please look dont touch" seems to mean. They just walk around touching every car they see, even if the owners are there, I was bought up going to car shows and knowing I would get in a lot of trouble if I touched them, its really annoying ay

Used to get this all the time at shows
People would lean over the ropes to touch the car
One day a guy lent over and was touching the rear tyres on the tonner (345/35/15)
The car owner walked up behind the guys girlfreind and lifted her short skirt and gave her a nice grab
The guy turned around fast looking for a biffo
Till it was explained that my mate was only looking with his hands just like he was doing to the car
Obviously they walked off in disgust

Gold!

This is the reason I don't take my car to the Summernats anymore.

Displaying the car for the Show 'n Shine, I left the car for about an hour to wonder around and have a look at the other cars on display. I came back and the car was dented in several areas and there was a guy who though it was OK to park his asre in the driver's seat.

Go figure! :fool:

They don't understand, and their parents were idiots and never took them to carshows.

How many times do you see parents walking around with kids and the kids are falling against the cars and shit, and the parents don't do shit! Some people have so little respect. I don't think there is an easy solution for it, just gotta politely point it out to them and hope it sticks

Oh man... this topic shits me!!

You guys are SOOOOooooo Right! Many people just simply dont have respect!!

I've only shown my car a few times, but i ALWAYS come back to hand prints everywhere and i've heard of damage and missing parts! Luckily never to my car.. but the hand prints!!

I have a friend in the MODE club i'm in and his car seems to be a dickhead magnet.... SO many people think it's ok to get in and have a photo inside!! What Tha!?!?!

Neil - to your mate.. that's awesome!!

Though i must say I've also had MANY very respectful people who often fold their arms behind their back when leaning in for a better look just to make SURE they dont accidentally touch!! (That's what i do!)

Cheers!

Could pay one of your mates in beer or whatever to get rid of people who try to touch your car. $150 bonus if he (or she) knocks someone out. Leaves you to have a look around.

Not much use on the streets, but would probably work at shows.

But yes, I beleive it comes down to jealousy and a lack of respect and common sense. Also, those idiotic few who do touch others prized possessions would most likely have no knowledge of the amount of time, money and effort (ie. blood, sweat and tears) that goes into such a project. Heath, again you raise a very good point. Kids (or teenagers for that matter) are only as good as their parents bring them up to be.

I have a cousin who used to have a SLR as a daily about 15-20yrs ago. Every time it went to town it came back with new dints or scratches. He eventually sold it, though has regretted it ever since.

Cheers.

agree, but my kids know the rules, they are not allowed within 5 metres of a car unless a.) they have their hands behind their back or b.) hands on head. my son touched a mates car once and i made him walk around all day with his hands straight up in the air, he felt like a dickhead and never done it again!

I hate seeing people touch other peoples cars, I mean so many people put there hearts and souls into getting there car polished and cleaned for a car show, and a single finger print makes it look dirty. I hate touching someone elses car even if they ask me to (feel how smooth the paint is etc). I just stand back and admire.

This is a common problem experienced by many torana owners, (according to me Dr. Mick)

I know people shouldn't touch other peoples property but they can't help themselves, (sort of an involuntary sexual type of thing)

Firstly, they see your car and use the first sense of sight (no harm done).

Then they hear your 355 V8 motor (second sense hearing, still ok).

Then they want to touch your car ( third sense of touching) perhaps a bit of stroking and fondling? :D

Now you need to be careful because the two remaining senses are smell and taste.

You need to be very careful where you park your car and if you need a second opinion, I'm sure Dr Terry can assist.

Cheers Mick.

Simple, set up one of those nice rope fences around your car, but instead of using rope use electric fence stuff. Dont have it turned right up, about 30,000 volts should be enough. Plug it in and wait for people to lean over, recon that would be bloody hilarious.

Cheers.

Why conect it to the fence. Conect it to the car and have a sign *Look and Admire Please Don't Touch The after effects can be quite shocking* :D

Haha, yeah i did think of that originally, would be to hard though

Would need the whole car one polarity (say negative) and you would need a steel floor around it the other polarity, and then it wouldent work if they were wearing thick soled shoes, and if it did work would probably burn the paint where they touch......

Fence is easyer haha.

But yeah thats not something i pulled out of my ass at the spare of the moment im actually considering doing that when the J is going again at shows, put up a big sign saying "DO NOT TOUCH THE FENCE" and see how many stupid fembits i fry haha :D. Prolly get sued into the next millennium though.

Cheers.

^HUGE gripe of mine too!
yes ive been part of the "pram brigade" but if i wanted a look see the other half took over duties so i could have a gork.

as for pram brigade members with another pram pushers who refuses to move out of everyone general direction? ram the pram! i had a brilliant jogger pram that had a bullbar on it and my god did i use it, fantastic height for shins and bent wheels on other prams.
As is always suggested by mother groups, never skimp on the price of a good pram not only is it safe for ya kid it can be used as a weapon!

i could do the fence. you can get solar power jobbies smaller than a battery... or just a truck battery.. just as good. put it waist height and far enough so u gotta lean on it.....

PEOPLE touch because they are ignoant and have no respect for their own property, let alone yours.
In the late 80's when the EA Falcon was released, we had the first one in town, a light blue Fairmont Ghia with a rare factory manual. I parked it in the servo one day and walked nto our office. I look across the street and this ignorant prick opens the door and sits inside. I run over and he abuses me (the alarm was going off) because I hadn't locked the car. Um hello f*ckwitt, why were you in the car in the first place?

I cant believe what some people do wtih there kids.

I was driving for parts pickup around the rocky swap recently, very very busy lots of people bla bla bla so was testing my very short temper to the limit.

What blew the fuse and i actually got out and abused the f*ck out of one bloke (great spokes person for the club....) was when a bloke was walking toward the car, and pushed a pram directly in front of the moving vehicle (less than a meter in front). I do not stand for shit like that.

Throw yaself infront of the car, i peronsally dont give a shit. But pushing a baby infront of the car is absolutely unacceptable.

Also had several parents walking towards the moving vehicle with toddlers and they made absolutely no effort to keep the kid to the side, had a total of three little kids run right infront of the car. Also most kept the kid on the road side, instead of putting the kid to the other side like my parents used to do with me. These ones i just managed to keep my cool (sort of) and just yelled abuse from in the car :D

Cheers.
