A comment was made at All Holden day last weekend about parents pushing their prams in between the cars and not to mention parents allowing the children to ride their bikes & scooters around the cars on show.

thats my RANT

cheers Keith

I had a bloke drag a bonnet scoop he bought from the swap all the way down the side of my car one year, blowing in the wind it also bashed into the car. I screamed at him and he dumb f*ck didn't know what to say.

After having kids, I'm heaps more tolerant of things being touched. They touch every god damn thing, specially when they have sticky fingers.

My son knows not to touch cars or go near them with toys. We went to a Buick show and I just said don't touch mate. One of the owners came up and said thanks because most parents don't give a shit and let them touch everything.

I can't say I have seen too much disrespect or stupidity around my Torana since I've put it back on the road. This though happened to a friend of mine in the late seventies. We drove to the local shopping centre in his E49 Charger and did a bit of magazine browsing and bought the fish and chips for dinner. Back to the parking lot and there is old mate with his groceries on the Chargers bonnet while he is busy organising the boot of his Landcrab. We were both a bit astonished until I suddenly realised that putting that crap on the bonnet of a solidly built young police officers pride and joy was going to result in a whole lot of grief. Sure enough soon there were corn flakes, butter and toilet paper scattered 30 feet either side of the Charger and blood dripping from old mates various open wounds. I guess that might not happen these days but back then we drove off and never heard anything about it.

And yes you wouldn't leave an E49 in the parking lot either these days.

Always a problem with the concourse days /shows with the XU1...
NEVER happens at the race meetings with the current car..guess its just a generally different age group?..
Had heaps politely come over and say Can I get a pic of my son beside the car?..I say.... No...He would look better inside..put him in the drivers seat...that shit makes my day/meeting/weekend/month...makes me smile too...my missus loves it...

i was accosted violently at some show an shine in taree by a bloke who said i touched his camaro. i said i NEVER touch someone elses car but if he touches me again ill wait in the car park and run his ass over. you can yell abuse at them but as much as you'd want to you cant hit them. kids need to be leashed at car shows.

cause the people ive told look at u like u have a problem, one even touched a second time.no one has apologized yet

as for getting in someones car,im spechless,id expect to be beaten to a pulp for such behaviour

nice work rory.like u said raceing cars are different to show or restored cars.they may not complete the next lap.

i was at the muscle car masters and i was looking at the flaveys hatch.for quite sometime i might add, with my boy.he say says to chuck him get a photo of him in

Simple, set up one of those nice rope fences around your car, but instead of using rope use electric fence stuff. Dont have it turned right up, about 30,000 volts should be enough. Plug it in and wait for people to lean over, recon that would be bloody hilarious.

Cheers.

Then everyone will stay away after they have left bodily fluids everywhere, problem solved. :spoton:

I have seen heaps of this crap over the years and it shits me to tears to see people have a blatant disrespect for other peoples property. I have always told my kids to be careful even near shitters regardless of condition as its really about knowing you need to be careful around anything thats not yours. I usually even tell people to be careful even if its not my car cause they have no idea who owns it.

see its the way they are bought up ,if they caught to respect things thats what happens ,but if there parents dont care well thats where the promblem is,
kids only do what there they see there parents do and the same for the way they act

Very well said, thats why i have never once yelled at a kid for something like that, just shape up to the dad lol :D.

But yeah you guys have hit a nerve with me with this one as it is something i absolutely detest, and yes im one of those people who walk around a car show with my hands behind my back the whole time.

Cheers.

Electric fence connected to the car can work.
Mate of mine used to do this to protect his car when out on his boat.
Pretty simple set up.
Works best through the chrome, and rubber soles wont help much.

I have not been very lucky lately, as some of you know. With a $600 door dent from a wedding, dodgy engine and gearbox work, etc. I am a bit sensitive to silly acts around the Torana.

Now, we all love a nice car show and they are always going to attract its far share of kids with dumb ass parents, I understand (but do not accept).

But recently at a car show, a fellow torana owner and family started erecting one of those 4 pole sunshades between the rows but right hard up in front of my torana. So I backed the torana up a bit to give them room. It was then left free standing with no apparent pegs to stop it rolling around if the wind came up.

I pointed out my concern so they installed a single little peg and a length of twine to fasten it to mother earth.

But come lunchtime, they left for lunch and it was no longer attended.

So I left!
