it looks very good

hey craig
i would like know if your xu1 has a xu1 boot lid or a police boot lid like mind has,
in side the lid i can see were the g.t.r badge was and centre hole to bolt spoiler on is not xu1,
i just like to know if g.m.h sent any 73 bathurst police cars to perth they made about 50 73 bath police cars
cheers vin

thanks debkar, that engine is a spare stroked 350,new protopline heads,,steel crank, eagle h beam rods, srp forged pistons etc all brand new, just needed some where to sit it,and don,t realy know what to do with it.Posted Image
the engine for this car is a 307 that has been bored 4 inch, makes it a 327,has keith black hyper pistons, arp stud kit through out ,o ringed block, copper head gaskets, standard 307 heads have been ported, new larger valves ,new springs, guide plates yt5000 rockers, solid cam flat tappet, etc will look like a 307 on the outside but will go better,i want the car to look fairly stock but go better.

hi vin,
as for the boot lid, when the car was restored i used a straighter boot lid,the oridginal was hear till about 2 years ago , a friend in tamworth is restoring a lc gtr and he got the boot lid,it wasn,t real bad anyway.
the car didn,t have a spoiler when i bought it though, and by memory there was no holes in it,but this was a blooody long time ago.
cheers craig

hi all.
finally got the xu-1 out into the light, and took some pics for you,
as you can see its not in its oridginal colour, back in the early 90,s when we started the resto,we had only ever seen one orchid metallic car that was very faided and we didn,t like it,seeings the car was already painted white over its oridginal colour we weren,t to worried about the colour change.

stuck the finned rear brake drums back on,
noticed a spacer under front shock, they are very old adjustable shockies, another mod that someone out there might recognise.

hey mate, i reckon those backing plates would add character to your car. maybe someone drilled them for weight reasons? but who knows, all i know is im 16 years old and would kill to have your car, so you should have it the way you want it. love your car.

cheers blake

hi blake,

thanks for your comments mate,i love to hear that young people still like such an old style of car,you must come from a good back ground to be interested in these cars, and i will put those backing plates back on one day,i thought it was a weight saving thing at first, but i probably think it might have something to do with cooling as well.

catch ya .
