Craig , you are right- any Brougham surviving today with a 10 bolt would be very desirable to own .
Earlier this year my brother met a bloke with an unsual HT wagon . It was ordered with -
308 engine
4 speed saginaw
bucket seats
console and matching shifter
10 bolt diff .
He has the paperwork for this unsual wagon .
Speaking of HK Monaros , the one you are painting will be a ripper when it is finished .
I have a soft spot for them as my first car was an Ermine white with black interior
307
powerglide
10 bolt
GTS Monaro
Christ I had some fun car . According to the speedo I could hold it in low to 80 MPH .
The 10 bolt was not the original ratio because someone in their wisdom had changed it to a 3.55 .
How the poor old powerglide held together I will never know .
My brother has a HK GTS Monaro that was originally bright blue metallic with Jacana blue interior-
186 , 4speed, standard banjo .
This car now has - 327 engine
4 speed Saginaw
violet tailshaft
3.36 10 BOLT
4 leaf springs [ these are hard to find ]
Car is currently in the paint shop.
My brother has chosen a solid blue instead of the factory one .
The interior is still Jacana blue sourced from Winner Products in S.Australia .
If I twist my brothers arm hard enough I may be able to post some pictures . I can only try .
Any Brougham with a Salisbury would be a find. You couldn't actually order one, so it'd be a special or even dealer fitment. 3.55 genuine GMH HK-HG Salisbury would be a find too as these were few and far between. They were an option on HK-HT but most were 3.36 or 3.08.
Car looks great too Craig!

it was a buisy chrisy brake, but i finally got that task done, and after working this week over a welder again i,m a train wreck, totally frocked.
i,ll be having a go again this weekend, plenty more rubbing out with 1,500 and 2000 yet, then eventually the buff.
i,m real happy with it ,as its the first real muscle car i,ve ever painted and its mine, done other cars, a drag car ,in my spare time, and a few boats, mechanicals, smoothed out engine bays, diff housings, smoothed out internal floor pans with modified tunnels.
i,ll keep you posted with progress,it may be slow, but the quality will be good,as i have time to get it right on.

The reason I ask is the two Sydney HK Monaros that I know of both have black paint that goes straight through the middle of the number plate wire grommet hole .
Both of these cars still had the factory applied paint- no crash damage or rust repairs .
Please dont take this as criticism of your car .
You said you want to get it right so if your Monaro is a Sydney car then I thought you should know .

That is looking so so good, I absolutely love it. My third car in 1981 was Warwick Yellow 307 'glide 10 bolt GTS HK, this brings back great memories.
First class workmanship, well done, please keep the pictures coming.

i,ve studied what i have but i guess its a adelaide, sydney thing which i want to get right,i,ve got a few pics of my favourite poster, and Dyno Dave Bennet signed many years ago its just about faided away so i got it laminated to preserve whats left,he is from down south so i guess thats why his black out is like mine.the signature is above front guard on an angle, you can just see.
hi simon,
that was a great third car to own by any standard,my first monaro was my 4th car and i was 20 and still own it,to many good times were had in it to ever sell, ive had it for 26years now,i,ll post a pic of her,the black lines on the blue car are way wrong it was painted 23years ago,and done by memory,by the painter.
thanks to all for the positive comments,it gives me a boost to get through it.
here,s a few more of the yellow car rebuild.

I have also included pictures of the brake fluid warning sticker location from both cars in case you need them.
These are factory original engine bay paint and stickers.

your a good person to get these pics for me,as i would rather get it right, appreciate you getting involved.
some say it doesn,t matter as its ONLY a 307,but even a 6cylinder hk gts is worth every bit of respect,to get right.
my old hk327 that i sold 5odd years ago had no stripes at all.

I am happy to help you with some pictures .
Attention to detail can often be the only factor separating a good car from a great car .
The marshmallow/hand cream brigade won't agree but tuff titties to them . [LOL] .
I have not owned a HK Monaro for a long time but still admire them whenever I see a nice one -- and yours certainly is .
At the recent Monaro nationals there were some HK'S that did not have black paint down far enough .
With the bumper bar fitted you are not supposed to be able to see body colour .
The other thing some cars were missing was black painted front fender inner recesses where the eyebrow mouldings attach .
Cars without this done just don't look right .
Anyway , keep up the good work ,
I look forward to seeing more pictures of this great car as it progresses .

hi david,
i painted black around the side of headlights, funny how people forget to paint this area,as it looks crap without being done, and i hope you keep a keen eye if i make any other mistakes,i know the gloss 2 pack engine bay is incorrect, but i like it that way,but the rest of the car will be fairly standard.
hi daryl,
i agree bout the hk munza, and like you love lj torries aswell,
i have used straight colour ,
when i painted my 1 tonner many years ago,i mixed clear in with colour in the last coats and it has weathered very well, but the xu1 is straight colour and still has a fantastic gloss ,but its kept out of sun, as will this monaro, for weekend cruises.
might buff this weekend,i was going to leave for longer, but its been very hot since painted,so hear goes.
cheers all.

Its been for sale for a year or so and i would be keen on any info anyone has.
car is the 88 car and has been owned by an ex v8-supertaxi pilot. It's not a mega dollar build , but appears to be ok for what i want.
i've just posted a new thread with plate details but would be keen on any info as i'm not a hk guy.
Plan is to freshen it up for local circuit duties and then repaint it back to original and prep it for targa west 2012.
No it's not the replacement for my hatch, but it will get me some circuit time.
I believe the car to be a genuine monaro but it's not being marketed as such
Thanks

you,ve got the right help with identifiing the monaro in other thread.
if you don,t mind could you post some pics here thanks, when your ready, i think i know the car, real nice.
yel307 is getting a shine now, heaps more work to do though, and have a small paint blow in to do,and repair black out on rear.
