been playing around,
changing things never easy, upper control arms are still pissing me around, just have to go back to standard spacing.

CraigA helped solve a issue with my oil filter touching on steering uni,so now i,m running a much smaller z160.

got all brads repro exhaust, very nice, but the engine pipe doesn,t fit my pipes so i,m going to have to modify to fit, annoying but thats how we roll.

its been good working on the tory again, and tidying it up,sorting out a few small things

g'day craig. nice work! slight topic change here but, just in regard to your beautiful xu1...it features a roll cage, have you ever had troubles with driving it on the street and cops hassling you? just that i was also interested in putting a cage in my xu1 but i think its not allowed in SA for street cars which is frustrating coz they look tuff aswell ! perhaps i should start a topic smewhere on here asking if cages are actually allowed in cars on the street?. thanks mate

Blake.

hi blake,

the cage is not allowed, and you being young you have no chance at all.

me being older and uglier and live in the country, our police are heaps good.

hey scotty,UFO,you drive an xu1 all the time, what would be the interest in driving this one?your welcome to have a go.

dane, the nervs havn,t kicked in,been through this to many times,i guess i,m getting a little bit old.

G/day Craig

Looks like you've got more clearance between the exhaust and gearbox crossmember than mine has. If you can fit at least one finger in between them you should be OK.

Car looks good mate, out of interest what colour is it? Looks kind of orange/yellow.

Cheers
Dave.

Lone Oranger, mmmmm yummy.

Took some pics of the clearance between the g/box crossmember and exhaust on my torrie for you. Not much in it LOL.

now thats a good set up dave,i probably should of gone for something like that my self, now looking back at how this has fanned out.

i moved it closer and can only just squeeze my finger in,

ran in cam today,no oil or water leaks, but a few exhaust leaks where they join together, need some sealer, might take the ducati for a blast to tamworth in morning.

the car sounds lumpy now,but fairly quiet, but VERY responsive, she sounds like its going to move quiet briskly, yeee frocken haa.

just need top bleed brakes, replace steering coupling and put bonnet back on,pull ferken exhaust back of and put in sealer, then take for a BLAST. :driving:

Twin 2" system with a Lukey 2 x2 muffler at the rear.
Yeah, I know how you feel, I've got to reco the master cylinder, replace the RH front LCA inner bush, fix a leak on the exhaust, replace the water pump, get the radiator looked at (might need a new one?) and get new tyres, then I can actually drive it again.
:bliss:

yeah hearing you mate,

i,ve rebuilt master cylinder, new water pump, radiator cleaned, new cam, lifters, springs, retainers, collets, frocked around with clearance with upper control arms, full exhaust bla bla bla.

i can only blame scotty UFO XU1 for all this fun, took me of the monaro, which was a hard thing to do.BUT after hearing this little beast roar again its worth it,thanks scotty your a great bloke, the car would have sat where it was, for probably another 15 years if UFO hadn,t got me those extractors.

so i guess its back to the monaro soon,i got the repro RSP hood lineing, which i must say is a perfect repro fitted, windscreen fitted, radiator cleaned and repro shroud fitted.
