[VIC] CRUISE APRIL 23RD

Some of you may remember I organised a cruise from Doncaster Shoppingtown Hotel thru Warrandyte onto Ringwood a while ago... well I had to work that day and missed out. So I need a fix before the typical Melbourne weather sets in!
I'm working on the route but have something similar in mind as most people's responses were positive.
So Sunday, APRIL 23RD seems to give everyone enough time to lock it in.
I'll watch this thread to see the interest while I check out the roads!
C'mon guys, it's central to most.... SE suburbs, northern and with the ring road not too hard to get to for the guys out west.
Would be great to get together for a big cruise, maybe a BBQ at Banksia Park (Templestowe Rd) has plenty of parking right next to BBQs and undercover tables etc.
Sounds good? Then lock it in!
More soon.

now the only problem is, what car do we bring? and who gets to drive?

What exactly do you propose as a route again? Is part of it a country drive, away from suburbian traffic?

Remember any Torry cruise is a good cruise and it doesn't have to be massive.
knoath: BBQ sounds good.
Well, we've got 6 so far:
1. knoath
2. EHGIRL
3. me
4. RTS Guy
5. LUSHUS
6. makka
anyone else?

As Deb said, we're meant to be going on an EH club run that day to the Melbourne Zoo (which would be pretty cool). So I will leave this decision in her hands. I will happily go on either run!
Cheers

Starting at Doncaster Shoppingtown Hotel (has a large carpark, not there for drinks..... <_< )
Heading east along Doncaster Rd
LEFT... Old Warrandyte Rd
LEFT... Springvale Rd
RIGHT... Old Warrandyte Rd
RIGHT... Stintons Rd (becomes Falconer Rd)
LEFT... Ringwood-Warrandyte Rd
RIGHT @ ROUNDABOUT...Over bridge Kangaroo Ground-Warrandyte Rd
RIGHT @ ROUNDABOUT... Eltham-Yarra Glen Rd (becomes Kangaroo Ground-St Andrews Rd)
LEFT... Cherry Tree Rd
LEFT @ ROUNDABOUT... Main Rd (Hurstbridge)
RIGHT @ ROUNDABOUT...Haleys Gully Rd
******At this point we have the option of heading North to Brocks Rd (Doreen) for a photo if that's what the majority want******
LEFT... Broad Gully Rd
LEFT... Collins St
RIGHT... Main Rd (becomes Wattletree Rd)
RIGHT... Main Rd (Eltham-Yarra Glen Rd)Eltham
STAY LEFT @ ROUNDABOUT... Fitzsimmons La (becomes Williamsons Rd)
LEFT... George St
LEFT... The Boulevarde entering Ruffey Lake Park
There are undercover tables and chairs for a BYO lunch if that's what the majority want, or continue along Williamsons Rd back to Doncaster Shoppingtown/Doncaster Rd starting point.
This route completes a full circle taking in some great roads through the hills . I will be checking the roads to Brock Rd this arvo to check wether sealed or dirt... will advise tomorrow (Wed)
I will do a dry run on Sunday to get an idea of time and distance covered to allow you to work out your fuel issues (use and cost!).
The time it takes to comfortably do this run including 'bunch up' stops, will decide on the start time, but I'm thinking around 9:00am meet for a 9:30am depart....
Looks like a great cruise, I know most of these roads and can assure that with a fine day, we'll have a good one .
Hope for a good turn out, like I said, let's all get together before the weather turns sour!
Oh, and get your Forum shirts out for this one!!!

I checked out Brock Rd and it is dirt, and badly cambered. I drove in 30 m and had to back out scraping most of the way. 4WD only, so it will be left into Broad Gully Rd off Haleys Gully Rd.
