look at putting a new diff in my torana... im sick of the banjo whine behind my 308.. and its just decided to leak oil like a mofo.
i was thinking of going a VL BW 3.08ratio ($700 at wreckers) as i heard they are SIMILAR (3mm different) length to the a9x rear track. Does this mean i just have to get the mounts and the brake lines converted or would i still need to get it chopped.
would it be best to have it normal torana track? or a9x track?
my torana has no flares, and standard guards i want to keep it that way. Ive waited on wheels until this conversion is complete so there is no need to worry about offsets yet.
thanks for your help.

if it were me I would buy a VN diff for $50-100, get it cut down and axles shortened to suit and for $700 youd probably call it a day. (what I should of done in the 1st place)

If its got HQ stud pattern, just convert your fronts then you will have a lot more wheels to chose from!

i just recently upgraded to a board warner.
this is what ive learnt sofar.
i got a v8 VRss ute one with an LSD for $450. compleat with breaks and discs.
VLturbo VLv8 vnv8 and vruteV8 are the same.
make sure u get a v8 one as they have 28 spline axels.
was going to go a 9inch but they do weigh a bit more and they suck lots of power and you can still break them unless you put the good gear in them.
most people reccomended to me that having less weight in the ass end is better for going faster arround corners.
i got my cut and mounts changed and everything ready to bolt up for 1000 bucks
I kept it commodore pattern as i am going to go hopper stopper upgrade on the frount and you get more choice of rims.
i also got myne made 22 mm wider at each end to accomodate for the commodore offet so i can use any standard commodore rims.
dont worry too much about an LSD as myne was flogged out, as most of them would be. so i got it spooled.
i upgraded to supra box at the same time $800 bucks for everything. so that i just have to do one modification of the tailshaft to suit supra to board warner.
that m20 youve got wont last long.

mini spool is about the size of a gold ball. replaces spider gears i think( someone know for sure?)
Full spool replaces the everything really. except CW and P.
Illegal on the street and makes reverse parralel parking difficult!

But if you do burnouts heaps then I doubt it would have much effect.

You could go detroit locker if your seriousabout it, but for street use just stick with a nice LSD with 3.5 gears...

Mini-spool cause me no problems whatsoever parking, driving round town, racing or whatever it be, I also run a Solid brass button clutch but I dont have any hassels with it.
