Just about to bolt one on my LH, do you put some pinch weld or rubber between it and the bonnet?
Anyone got any pics of how they are mounted?

cheers Dan

Hey mate,

On A9X's and stuff, i dont think they had anything in between the scoop and the bonnet, they were just screwed on...

I wanted the scoop to look like it flowed with the rest of the style of the car. So i put the piping that is used under the flares around mine, and also the allen key style bolts.

DITTO!

And you can buy the guard piping from Clark Rubber.

I think that using the piping would be the proper way to do it. That way it, as Matt said, flows with the look of the rest of the car. That is, of course, the car in question is flared.

Mount it using the allen key bolts, the same size as the ones used for flares, a flat washer on top and a flat washer underneath the bonnet, and of course, use nylon nuts.

The one mounted on my car has some of the bolts right above the bracing in the bonnet. They just drilled a larger hole in the bracing so that the smaller washer and nut can sit right against the bonnet.

I can get you a pic of that if you want, but it depends on where you mount it. Some people have them all over the place!

I think Ruts fixed up one in his flare fitting thread, might be worth the look.

I don't agree with using allen key bolts. For one, it looks rough, and for 2, you have to hack holes in the ribs in 2 places to fit nuts to the back. Use the correct screws which are the same as the grill screws and for the two on the front corners, use self tappers with the same head design, you can find them holding the dash in place.

if u are using allen heads,id go for stainless steel ones.

i had normall, black steel ones, on my car.they rust very quickly, and the ones on the bonnet fill up with water, and hold the water.

could be another reason to go for the screws.

My Allen Key bolt ones, are stainless, but are much smaller than the ones i used on the flares... Cant remember the exact size, but the head is about 5mm across (Flare ones are like 8-10ish i think?). They are also the stainless steel ones.

Hi REDA9X,

Have you got any good close up photos of the A9X scoop, how its located, where the screws are placed, in particular how the screws go in regard to the bonnet ribs?

Cheers

When I was mounting mine I asked on here and was told to mount it so the bottom at the rear of the scoop sits right on the rear edge of the bonnet so the top of the scoop overhangs the Bonnet a little. And centerd left to right of course
