Hello
I am after a little help identifying a quadrajet carb Part# 7041202zf
BUILT 193rd day 1972

I am under the impression it was off a A9X torana hence why i am asking the question here
I will add that the body also has a X cast into the moulding can someone please supply me some info on this carb and also what the X in the casting means
i have had a look over my other carbs and none have this casting mark

the number should be 7041282....its off a hq 308....i have a 6/73 hq statesman here which has that carb on it and also has the x casting...no idea what the x casting meens...

And since A9X was made late 77 a 72 built carb certainly aint going to be on one

As ozbox said it is a HQ 308 carby but just a little bit more information for you is that it is a Automatic model carby.
Even numbers are Auto, Odd are Manual.

The full brake down is this

7041282 ZF

704 1970-74
1 = 1971. (this is because it is a 1971 spec carby)
2 = Quadrajet 4BBL US federal standards.
8 = Holden.
2 = Auto transmission.

There are over 30 different model of quadrajet. Just try find a carby kit for one, to find out how many different varieties there are!!!

Vacuum advance port is connected to full vacuum for auto, ported vacuum for manual.

Have just bolted a 7041281 Q-jet to a HJ 2 door that has the X on the carb.

Hey all

Maybe my eyes but it looks to me more like a symbol rather than an X. One leg of the X appears to be thinner than the other and looks like a needle (pointy end up) inserted through the other piece.

Any X on a carb casting would have very little to do with anything GMH were doing. These carbs were cast in the USA, and they would never have heard of an L34. The only thing on most GMH Quadrajets that distinguishes them from others is the 8 in the carby number.
