dont ya just love 5 slot US RACERS, both cars look great. are you going to run the LJ with them, with the flared guards it just looks so late 70s early 80s. which i mean as a huge compliment as it was a time when the second or third owner got these cars for little money and set about making it there own individual masterpiece. some made it, some didnt, but yours is an instant hit with those wheels and that color. well done

Looking good so far, i love the pumped guards and fats on it, they definately help to achieve that old school look : )

You planning on painting inside the boot/interior? I would have thought it would be better to do that first?

Coilovers are interesting, a set of fresh adjustables in there would be nice hey.

Coil overs aren't home made.
They were a type of overload spring.
You'll notice the original spring is still in place.
I forget who made them. :dontknow:

There are a few photos floating round at mum and Rays joint of it when we first got it, but basically, as it is on the hoist in the first post (red/primer) is exactly how we got it.

The rear flares looked like shit, the floorpans both needed replacing and it needed a bit of a sill repair, but in the end, it is "only a racecar" afterall!

As for the coilover thing, They are simply an exhaust clamp and a couple small circular spring holders..... Definitely look homemade (regardless of that though, they are probably in china by now)

The floor inside has been painted purple already, the boot wont matter too much (its going to be paitned black in the end I suppose, but again, its only a race car.

The rear sill and the back seat area is going to paneled over (retaining the backseat clips so we can throw one in if needed (somehow around the cage...)

Speaking of which, just going to go with a bolt in cage now, just in case we ever want to turn it back to a road car without too much hassle. Bond Roll bars do one for around 1k, we could build one for $400 or less, but that requires time and patience (something I dont have right now, and something Ray has even less of) but he doesnt get out of doing the one for the street stocker! (which is another mid way project!)

Might have this on the trailer to bring it to toranafest as an "unfinished project"!

more photos of it at home (with all the panels on) later

I have never been a big fan of flared guards on a LJ, but they look great. Either it's the profile of the colour (which looks great by the way) that sets it off.

I thought I was the way of many projects. I love fresh paint work nothing beats it.
