im looking at removing my engine and painting it in the next couple of months. ive already dragged a mate into it. whats the best product to clean the engine with first and whats the best product to paint with? are some better than others?
next is what colour to paint the engine, currently its rust coloured! can people post up pics of different coloured 6's? im thinking either black or grey, dont think i want to paint it red.

One tip with yellow, you dont want any oil leaks, show up like mafakas.

Old engine.
Running "yella" 202's has become a bit of a trade mark for me according to some mates lol.
Cheers.

I did mine back to orange.
It was a full rebuild so it was a blank canvas
After building the engine i washed it with an acetone to get rid of all traces of oil.
I just bought pressure packs of engine paint from supercheap.

I have only ever used engine enamel, VHT seems best, other brands seem a bit thin.
Next motor I do will be body colour so will be using 2k.
Motor prep is same as body prep.
If you want a good finish that will last and not peel or flake then it must be clean and rust free.
Give it a good scrub with caustic based oven cleaner (remember cloves and googles) and use a water pressure washer if you have one to wash it down afterwards.
Don't forget to seal the motor up.
Rust can be treated with acid (hydrochloric or any rust converter) and wire brushes.
If you are painting over old paint too then hit it all over with either a wire brush, scotchbrite or even sand paper on the bigger areas to remove the loose stuff and to help the fresh paint stick.

I know you dont want to paint it red, but i used the same paint that Paul used, the Septone engine enamel from supercheap, seems to have worked well, this is how its held up on mine after 2 years, i just degreased the block before i painted it, didnt strip it back like pauls either
