Yeah Im running the same flywheel (lightweight, billet steel, explosion proof)
Pity you arent a couple weeks ahead, you could have brought it out for a run on the christmas cruise!
Will definitely be keen to see how your setup performs! How long till you will have it all back together?

As for the Toyota box - to be honest I'm not keen on the non-Holden bits. I have to show at least a little respect for the fact its a genuine XU-1

Photos don't do them justice. In real life they are just incredible to look at.
Work done by Hi Octane in Rydalmere Sydney. About 500 metres from work
Bottom end of the engine is now built. All done by end of next week.

just a tip, if your putting them on a motor you haven't run before make sure your timing is not too redarded when you first fire it up. Reason i say this is a good mate had his 383 stroker rebuilt, was fitted to the car ( VS commodore) then he decided to fit some coated extractors, he was ever so careful to fit them with out scratching them (it took hours). Only to have the engine builder fire it up to run the cam in ( i was there ) and with too much retarded timing in the beginning to burn the tops of all of the first bends of the pipes. Needless to say he was not happy.

They dont tell you until after you ring to ask why they are faded/discoloured, but there are a two things that I found that will stuff them.
Fuel or oil will stain them if it hits while hot
Excess heat will dull them (so dyno tuning, running in a cam etc)
Just something to be wary of when using them, I found the coating pretty hardy other then that, Ive bashed mine around a bit over the years and it hasnt really scratched or chipped anywhere.

I'm fitting a heat shield so the headers will be covered. I just want it to go good anyway so not concerned so long as the ceramic coating does its job and minimises engine bay temps.!!!

One company I spoke to (CIC) recommended against using the silver as petrol will stain and the finish will discolour if overheated.
An agent for Jet Hot coating in Perth claimed that the silver coated headers on his drag car still look like new after a couple of seasons. This included oil spills from the rocker covers during inspection between runs. Jet Hot claim the sterling silver coating can not be penetrated by Petrol, Brake fluid, Oils or Antifreeze.
Jet Hoat Coatings
It would be interesting to hear if anyone has had problems with Jet Hot coated sterling silver headers.

Before it came on around 3000rpm. Now I think it would be a little higher.
Diff will be 3.55 LSD.
I can't wait to get it going again either. Should be a fun 2010

It would appear that JetHot, CIC and HPC all use different coatings or at least different trade marks. It would be good to know what the difference between the products if any is.Mine were done by HPC in melbourne.

It makes me really happy that a younger bloke like yourself would have such a strong passion for these cars. I look forward to seeing your car progress so keep us up to date.
Linamint is a perfect colour on an LC. Did you see Alan's LC XU-1 in the recent Unique Cars shootout? That's a cracker of a car and John Bowe raved about it when he jumped out of his test drive.
I'll post a video as soon as I get mine running.

Have bolted everything up out of the car and it fits OK with the sump. Not sure about clearance to the body or subframe but will find out next week when I put it in.
As you may have seen in the thread I was using the factory exhaust headers but engine builders advice was to go for the HM Headers. Not sure about flow figures for the muffler but the factory style pea shooter would surely flow less than a low restriction 2.5" to 2 x 2" outlet muffler.
Not sure I care anyway - its just sounds real good.
Has your sump got an external oil pick up? If so I'd be interested to see where you run the hose from the sump to the oil pump. We have some clearance concerns around that area and a picture of yours may give me a better idea.

Thanks for checking the sump. It'll all work out next week when we make it fit
