Hey, does anyone minitub there cars AND fit flares? or is that just silly? its just that I loved flared torana's but my hatch has rust in the shocktower/wheel tubs so thought why not mini-tub it then! but yea I want flares too...

Could fit like 315 on tho eh?

If you want 315s, you can achieve that with either mini tubs, flares or both.

I've got the same rust in my new shell and I am intending to replace it. But I might end up mini-tubbing, who knows haha

I dunno, you may gain a little room on the inside but I don't think you'd be able to take advantage of tubs with flares - you're restricted by the area where the flare bolts on

edit: maybe with custom flares that went further up the guard?

You should get 315's in with the relocated shock however as 76lx says, if you hang out past the original bodyline (flares or not) you will need to raise the car to compensate.

Personally I reckon the tubs are the go with an unflared quarter panel. JMHO

Hehe 315 was just a size I picked outa the blue as its resonably big... Its just that well half the wheel tub is rusted already on the hatch so why not go tubs... But I prefer the look of flares so would want them too.... Im not particularly after MASSIVE wheels... my Sedan has 295's on the back and thats well fat enough already

Nah really needs $600 a corner 345s I think :P

Seriously, too much emphasis is put on massively fat tyres on the back of Toranas. Most people would do better by just getting a softer compound of rubber or having a set of semi slicks in the shed for when they really wanna put the power down to the ground.

Heath, form follows function! LOL... It has to look good before we start thinking about how well it works!

Why bother with 345's when Pirelli makes a 355/25R19?
Bigger is better!

I have a genuine royal plumb ss with mintubs and flares. It is a unfinished project of mine set up for a big block, i have not put the flares on but have dummied them up and i can fit a 32 x 13.5 x 15 slick under it. Its going to be a street /strip car when finished but i will be making the rest of the car look standard, as in factory paint colour with the silver ss stripe and blackouts, and factory trim .Besides the moly cage and 572 with big duke heads and pro case glide from the orange pro truck i bought of ebay it will look stock lol. You're going to need something more than a standard flare to cover those!

They would be ok at the top but surely they are not long enough though? (front to rear)

I suppose you could just cut them in the middle and add an extra chunk

The thing is though
A baggie crossply has a very different shape to a radial

So if your going to try fit big diameter wheels with radials you need to consider the shape difference

I think from memory, the owner still has the shell and he has a new one on the build.

I think he started a thread on his new build in members projects a while ago. Some time early this year ?
