Hi,

I've got an LJ Torana and wanted to change the rims on the back. I have widened 13X6.5 rims for the back but I want to go a bit wider. What do you guys think is the max I could go, keeping in mind that I want to have the rim set a little deep and the car hasn't been modified.
The other problem is that tyres are hard to get for 13" rims so does anyone know of any other holden rims that are bigger that still fit the original LJ stud pattern or any other make of rim because I know Volvo rims fit on Holdens. (Keeping in mind that I want to widen them so they have to be steel).

You can get HG/HK/HT wheels and have them widened (or if you are lucky you might be able to find some in the right width & offset), they are 14" stockies that look quite nice when fitted with baby mooncaps.

You can also get the Volvo stockies that you mentioned in both a 9-slotter style (in 14") and a chaser style (in 15"). Both of these can obviously be widened etc to suit.

I have 13x8s on the back of my car with 225s and loads of dish but the LH/LX/UC has more space in the rear guards. You might be pushing it to get even a 7.5" under there but you should be able to get a wide Yokie if you're willing to spend a bit, even in 13"

EDIT: PM me if you want me to chuck up some photos of all these wheels

Thanks for the info, I wouldn't mind seeing some pics (Not sure what PM means not farmiliar with this stuff).

Does anyone with an LJ know roughly how wide you can go on the back without modifying the guard.

I had some widened ht(?) kingswood rims on my lc years ago.I think they were roughly 225-235 wide, tall profile.

Wheel arches were lipped when I got the car, other than we had to tap in the spare wheelwell where the tyre rubbed. They filled in really nicer with not much room left at all.

It appears I am full of shit.

After climbing up and actually chucking a tape measure over them, they are only 10s.

Hi,you can fit 13 x 9's under the rear with 235/45v13 kumho's but you have to tie the handbrake cable to the bottom trailing arm, sorry no pics as i have just had the mawers refurbished so still to refit the tyres.

Hmmm I was under the impression that the 9-slot Volvo wheels were naturally a 14" rim and people often put step-up lips on them to make them 15" when they widened them, but now I'm not so sure. Can someone confirm that before LJ202 goes searching? Thanks!

Here are some more to make your decision more complex. I think these would look great with some dish and dogbowl hubcaps!
