Hey guys just wondering if anyone has bought a car hoist from these guys?
Any advice or suggestions as to which hoist i should get, i was looking at getting a 2 post as it seems more compact/uses less space. An d seems good enough for what i need.
I you bought one please let me know how you went about it, likes or hate about it, which brand and company you used.
This is one i just googled

2 posters are more versatile IMHO.
Wheels free for checking brakes etc.

I used to lift engines out using one of the rear legs. :spoton:

I would look at second hand too. A lot of new shops go belly up after buying all new equipment.

You can lease too.

You can buy hoists that go up against the side wall now.I cant remember if they are one post or two,(the arms swing out across the whole car) but they would make better use of a smaller shed.

Hoists are unreal, but they can be a real space waster.

I have a Molnar 2500kg hoist, cost me about $2300 fitted and certified. It was about 5 years old and replaced by a 3000kg one in a Toyota dealership as the 2500kg unit was no good for Landcruisers. Much better hoist than cheap imported stuff. My only complaint is it doesn't lift a car high enough as I am 6'5".

i bought a tufflift oh 8000 12 mths ago its a 2 post overhead model, good jigger, i leave the L34 on it and the Hj monaro under it.

my shed is 40ft by 25ftx10high the hoist just fits running in line with the ridge which is 12ft high. you need to watch out if the boot or bonnet are fully open. im glad i got a 2poster though, it was $2950

We have a 2 post Molnar at work it is the best hoist i have used but it cost over 5 grand.

Where i used to work had Tecalemit hoists which were also very good except after a certain year they were made in Korea and they had a lot of problems mainly with slipping belts and safety's that would lock on. The chain driven ones where good but the overhead cable type are the best in my oppinion. Every workshop should have a 4 post for certain jobs and suspension diagnostics but they are a total prick t work on. If you not used to a 4 post hoist you will have a few lumps on your head by the end of the day, i have also seen an apprentice nearly lose a finger using the sliding jack on a 4 post.

Depending how much your going to use the hoist it may be better to get a cheaper one that is a bit less practical to work on. But whatever you do make sure you get a qualified person to check it out if you are gettin a S/H one. If you have ever seen a car come off a hoist you will know just how dangerous they can be.

Got a quote from a Repco supplier of Molnar Hoist for a 2 post with bottom plate, basically the cheapest Molnar they got. $5885 + $500 install.
Bit pricey may have to go second hand. Ill see how I go with a new one
