I'll see your minetti and raise you a pair of classic but affordable Group C's.

I assume you have the right CAMS licence to bring it in... good work
Take at least 25 days to ship from LA to QLD
Once you send your $50 for import approval it shouldn't take long to get the GO back

Yeah already checked with them...the C3 CAMS license is a guide..2S is fine if you state its for Hillclimbs ,sprints etc. Interesting point..if its a Formula Vee or Ford or has Brabham on it anywhere you get to pay import duty...work that out.

Well done mate, looks like a good buy! I know how your feeling right now, itching to get it over here and find out how it goes. Our new toys may even be on the same boat together!

bloody dotars took almost 4 weeks to send back my approval, so dont hold ya breath, funny though the first one was only 10 days... just dont bother ringing them, they dont answer and on their message bank it states "unneccesary calls may result in delays in your approval" - read - piss off and let us do our job in our own time !!

Sounds like a good buy, what are the costs from the states ?

Datto what about importing engine parts? I am currently looking at the world products LSX warhawk 481 for the monaro.

for those chasing the ADUSD exchange here is a few good sites I use for multi currency loans e.g loan in USD @ 2.1% to buy house in aus and gamble on currency.

www.dailyfx.com - live rates + news (but they are often wrong with their news)
www.ozforex.com.au - great if you want to hedge (lock in) your rates if you want to lock the rate in now but swap currency later

there are two general thoughts at present with currency AFTER it goes 1-1 with the USD in about FEB 2010
- it will drop back once the US starts raising interest rates
- it will continue getting stronger against the USD in line with the china economy strength

I will only be bringing back what will fit in the Cad
And I aint paying the duty and GST on someone elses parts
Nor am I buying parts for people to get off me when I return... they must be paid for before I take posession
So if I bring anything back for anyone else they pay their own costs (nice if they helped with some shipping too if its a big item)

But no-ones asked for anything yet
