Improved Production appears to be the cheapest/most reasonable class.

A few of the others here can post their cars, also IPRA.

Go to CAMS website and read the rulebook or order a hard copy off them
Or better yet go get a CAMS licence and start doing some club level sprints and hillclimbs first
Actual circuit racing is more intense , expensive and less regular

Start off slow and work your way up

But get the book first so you know how to build the car to the correct standard

Or join the IPRA, and talk to the guys that are doing it. Circuit is expensive, try to avoid slicks.

Yeah mate like the others said Improved production is a great way to go. On the cams website go to the Motorsport Manual section and look for Group 3J Improved productuon. Only the general rules are now printed in book form individual class rules have to be downloaded.

G'day mate,

Yep IPRA is a good way to go, as suggested starting with some sprints is a good idea. If you are going to build a car, make it compliant with the 3J IPRA rules so you can run when you are ready.

Here is a link to the relevant CAMS rules:

3J IPRA Rules

as well as a link to the index page of the manual

Cams Manual Index

Another good option would be to contact your local IPRA club, the details can be found here:

QLD IPRA Website

Maybe give one of the guys a buzz and have a chat to find out when and where the club holds it meetings, come along and they will bring you up to speed.

hope that helps,

cheers,

Sam

Yep as all have said above ...here is my IPRA Car... 350 Chev, Tremec 5 speed, Ford 9 inch etc Log Booked as a LX Torana SL/R 5000.
If you can try and get the car log booked as an A9X so you can run a bonnet scoop.
