Can I please have photos or diagrams for the connection of emission hoses on a 308 red motor. I have an LX July 77 which needs to comply with ADR27A. I have seean some with and without EGR valves and I need clarification on where hoses go as I will need to put the car over the pits and I only want to do it once. I am in Perth and I believe that this is a requirement. Thanks

I don't think that is the diagram for ADR27A LX, it has the wrong rochester carby for LX.

The fuel line should come straight in the front on the LX but that picture has it coming in from the side.

(If that makes sense)

The LX is a little more complex. From memory (and I may need correcting), it is something like this.

It has a temp switch at the back of the DS head, it operates a solenoid/valve that prevents vacuum signal from operating the vacuum advance on the distributer.
There is also a coolant temperature sensing valve/tree at the front of the manifold that also stops the vacuum signal getting to the dist.

Also, the Manual LX 5 ltr has no EGR.

I don't have the diagrams at my finger tips but others may have?

Again it is just off the top of my head and may be a little wrong.

Good luck

I'll scan the correct pages for you. That one above is ADR27, not 27A. As Baron says, manual has no EGR.

Why does are ERG fitted to autos and not manuals. What differance will it make if an auto does not have an EGR valve.

Here is a scan of the LX parts catalogue relevant page for ADR27A 5.0L. As you can see maunal has no EGR. I think Terra is confusing the vapour return line with the canister, as A/C cars have a return line from the fuel separator in the fuel line. There is no mention of EGR on any manual 308's in LX. The difference it will make to an auto not having EGR is it could be defected.

Is an EGR valve bolted to the inlet manifold near cylinder no.5???

Hopefully I will have to low down on the car after the STC get together next week as the owner is not a member here.

I have gone from a 6 to 8. I am not sure what vehicle the V8 that I got came from but the EGR valve was plated over. The 6 that I took out had a EGR therfore as I have retained the auto I will need to get an EGR for the V8.

Basically yes. All you have to do is fit the EGR valve, run a hose from the EGR valve to the driver's side Xmas tree, and the other side of the Xmas tree to the carby port on the Quadrajet that should have a blank plug on it (as shown in the picture for a manual car). Unfortunately that particular picture in the LX catalogue isn't the best. I have a higher resolution scan if you want it, but this forum wouldn't let me post it.

I think the 6 and 8 EGR are the same.

6 and 8 EGR valves are differant in that the top with the hose connector are positioned and differant angles. However they can be used.
