The noise really has me perplexed Kev. Your dead right it sounds nothing like a Holden engine....Very cool though.

Sounds better than a Rotary.

My 6.30 am after a huge night on the piss and greasy food wake up fart sounds better than a rotary.

You can hear the Holden 6 firing order hey Jonesy.
I reckon you just haven't heard the sound of a holden 6 under 7k for a full 1/4 mile pass before!

I have heard a lot of them at a lot more than that before Jonesy....
Kev, who first mentioned the perculiar noise, has sat behind teh steering wheel of one making a lot more revs than that for a full quarter mile.....Frequently.

Good thinking Jonesy,
Holden would of optimized the firing order?
But it has been said, changing the firing order of V8's can make an engine breathe better.
Maybe they reversed the firing order then,

Changing the firing order (typically for a BBC 4-7 swap is popular: Stock 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2, with the swap 1-8-7-3-6-5-4-2.) has its chanpions and opponents, some see no improvement when tested.
It may come down to one or more of the manifold design/stroke etc, whether changing the firing order stops consecutive cylinders 5 & 7 stealing off each other (but then what about the resultant 4-2?). I considered the swap for the new Lunati cam I bought but with an IR manifold and short stroke it did not seem worth the effort.
I did read many years ago that, when Peter Molloy was building the 308's for Bob Morris in '78/79, he did change the firing order..

It's 2 stroke

It's definitely a 9 port Holden 6, seen it with my own eyes.
Kev it weighs about 2400lbs with the driver in it.

How on earth does that run 10's, I can't spot the gas anywhere, although there is some braided lines going under the headers but i don't think there gas lines. that is the most impressive holden 6 i've known about. the SU manifolds are short. I wonder if the perculier sound is 6 into 1 headers. maybe its secret is the vacuum pump. It sits like and shifts gears like a pro stock car. fantastic

Not sure what the exhaust is, I didn't look underneath.
It has been well thought out & engineered.
No gas lines.

I just grid proportioned the head vs extractors,
and are only 1 1/2" (38.1mm ) primaries too,
now that is good to know.
