Less fuel in the tank and losing the bumper bars may help.

I just drove down to the local dump and drove through the weigh bridge. Car with me and a few tools came to 1.44 ton. I dont know what I was hoping for but it seems heavier that what I was expecting. Now that I want to start dragging her to get 3160 pounds isnt quite light enough. Darn it!
1440 kilo's is 3174.656 lb, it's 2.2 pounds to the kilo. Take the spare wheel and jack out and you will be under 3160 lb.

T400 and 9" would weigh heaps!
Do you have Chassis Kit, Stereo, Big wheels/rubber etc as well? Its funny how fast it all adds up!
When i rebuilt my car last year, i tried to offset the weight of the 9" and Auto but going light weight race seats (Save 30kg) and the Convo's weight heaps less than the dragways i had on there! I did buy fibreglass bumpers at the time, but then realised chrome is better! LOL.
Also, i remember reading somewhere that Sprung and unsprung weight is very different? I guess it would be moreso with handling and stuff.

Just a good plan
You'll need abittle more HP than I did cause your diff and box are robbing power
I managed 11.7 @ 118 back in 1988 with a relatively mild engine and 3.9 gears
So if you aim for 400 hp you should get where you need to be
Maybe a lil sniff of the dentists gas to push the edge if your not quite there.... you don't need to run 11's to the shops after all

Yeah I think that would make a fairly significant difference, shoulda mentioned it earlier!Heath I've got an LX hatch, 308, T400 and 9". About as heavy as it gets really. What combo will you be running?
Green machine in my avatar shouldn't weigh anything interesting. It's just a 6cyl/MC6/Banjo with a 90L gas tank in the boot and no petrol tank, slightly fatter wheels, original weight interior etc. It would probably be a good guide to what a 6cyl Torana with a big stereo etc weighs
My other project will be a 6cyl/3spd/BW78, will have a thin guage stainless gas tank, petrol tank delete, plastic windows in the rear half of the car, fibreglass panels, gutted rear doors, minimal interior etc. Weight is a big concern with that car...

I am REALLY interested in seeing what the racecar weighs when I finish with it.
I'm interested in seeing how much it weighs before and after you drill holes in it

Yeah but the more weight you lose, the less horsepower you need. Horsepower costs money tooJust keep it simple, weight loss costs, its never cheap.

As a comparison my old VC Commo Circuit car was 1180kg, Holden 6 with tripple webers, Philipino 4 speed, V8 Diff Housing, full alloy cage, all steel body and bumpers and no driver.

That the reason didn't build a hatch, they are heavy. A lc is a good 100kgs less than a lx hatch. Even 100 pounds is worth a 1/10 of a second.
i'm hoping my ls1 lc 2dr comes in under 1100kg.

<Edit> 1300 kg's tare weight on the rego papers. Dunno what that means.
Commonwhore from memories is pushing 1600 kg's, the VN Wagon is 1360kgs.

My lc came in at 1190kgs with 330mm brakes,heavy 18 inch granges(26kgs each),injected5l/getrag & b/w diff.
I'm changing the brakes to early commo discs & hq calipers plus fitting lighter wheels(16kgs each) so that takes nearly 50kgs of weight out the car already (now 1140kgs)..standard seats are heavy so there is some weight to save there also.
