New Wheels

Thought I'd share some pics of my new wheels.
Its nothing special, but its great to get back into a car like this. I wanted a ute so the Commodore had to go.
Its basically a Torrie with a slightly different body
Its stock as a rock, 202 with Stromberg and 3 on the tree and a big wide bench seat.
Goes mint but doesn't stop overly well or straight cause it also has 4 wheel drums, which are ok, just taking some time to get used to them.
I'm loving driving it, and the sound of a carbied motor is SO much better than EFI.
Anyway, here's some pics, notice the custom rust in the normal places....
Oops....thats something else I'm working on...

Custom? I thought they came from the factory like that...notice the custom rust in the normal places....
A man cannot live or work without a ute and I know what you mean about getting back into a real car, can't beat it

It seems like it was a real bottom of the scale model, with only the bare essentials. It has the old sweeping style speedo, and the only other gauge is the petrol gauge.
I drove it to work today and it went pretty good...

Almost all HJ tonners looked like that. You could get an appearance package for them that gave you a chrome grille, chrome bar and H-O-L-D-E-N badges (and possibly different hubcaps), and there was also an Ambulance package that got you a HJ Premier front and armrests. But 95% or more looked just like yours.

It has a sticker on it that suggests it was used for carting concrete, but as far as I can tell its been looked after really well.
I sort of plan to slowly fix it up, but its going so well at the moment I don't wanna muck around with it too much, plus I don't wanna spend anything on it that I could spend on the torry.
I'm tempted to whack the Holley on it from my LC, its sitting there doing nothing, but its going alright, so not sure.
I've taken the sides off the tray so that I can see out the back a bit better, plus less weight means more fast . I'll just put the sides back on when I need them.

I've added a temperature sensor. Its working but not really in properly yet. Will add some pics once its mounted.
Also got some plans for the old girl.
Getting rid of the massive mirrors....after about 60 all you can hear is a whooshing sound, and I'm pretty sure its not the engine.
I've already taken the sides of the tray off and they only go on when needed. Terrible visibility with them on....awesome without them....
Still after some disk brakes. Got my eyes on a Statesman that's for sale, hopefully has rear disks too, could be interesting. The Drums have to go. They're great but then they're horrible and then they're great again. I never know which way it's gonna turn when I brake. Not looking forward to winter.
I'd love to put a GTS nose cone on it too...
And power steering and Air Con but we'll see how we go.
It could use a higher ratio diff too. It goes quick off the line but it doesn't like anything over 80. It will happilly do it but after about 80 I can't hear the whooshing of the mirrors over the roar of the engine....
Eventually I'd like to remove the tractor appearance too.
Oh and I wanna put a nice front bumper on there.
The black one is nice and solid and good for bumping into stuff but it doesn't look too nice.
